Linda, it's well known that humans were never meant to stick with one person forever. They do it by choice. The death till you part statement is a made-up religious thing. That's how it meshes. Every aspect of the way we live is dictated by society who's basis of tradition are based on religion. That's all I meant.
As for marriage, I married because I was young and stupid. I didn't have a clue what it was all about. We've been together since I was 20 and even though we're divorced, he still lives upstairs and we're best friends. I'm best friends with all my old boyfriends luckily.

KD - Linda, it's well known that humans were never meant to stick with one person forever.
Well known, according to you, but who proved that to be true for all? That's what I'm asking you. In pioneer days...life was much shorter...therefore easier to live ones life 'till dealth did they part'...than it is now.
Doesn't mean 'humans were NEVER meant to stick with one person. That's an opinion, KD. It's a choice if they do so or not. There are many secular marriages that have lasted until death parted them.
The death till you part statement is a made-up religious thing. That's how it meshes.
Whether one married or not...history proves the family unit worked together. As I mentioned...the caveman when out to get the families food, brought it back to his family. Wasn't concerned about trying to find food for everyone he might have slept with. His female partner had and took care of their young, cooked their food, etc. I'm asking you to show me where this claim you have that's it's all about religion came into play in that timeframe/history.
Every aspect of the way we live is dictated by society who's basis of tradition are based on religion. That's all I meant. But it SURE appears to bother you that others CHOOSE to have standards/values different than you think they should have. You're always mentioning it.
The family unit is what has protected our society. I think it's plain to see what's happened in our society SINCE the family unit has started to self-destruct. More problems of all kinds.
The people in that same society have decided what morals/values/etc they choose to live with, abide by. And as previously mentioned, our society has always revolved and changed according to what the majority of it's citizens believe to be correct for society to survive. America has always had a religious base...since it's formation. It has less now....times and activist judges have seen to that. But those changes haven't all been beneficial to our society on the whole either.
