etexbill - You're right about many things you've stated....one being that we're really only hitting our heads against brick walls...as no one has changed their position.
You're also correct on your statements about Truman. But we all know there hasn't been a democratic president since kennedy that has shown ANY willingness to protect this Nation. They're all whimps.....want to 'talk' to terrorists....understand them. At times, I SOOOOooooo wish they could be sent to 'talk' with the terrorists.

Taken from the WSJ, today....addressing a comment made on a liberal website....pointing out that there ARE SOME democrats who 'get it'....and aren't doing exactly what the terrorists hope we'll do....and what way too many of the liberals here are doing.
"One liberal who makes sense, though, is Slate's William Saletan":
Bin Laden's whole game plan is to turn the people of the democratic world against their governments. He thinks democracies are weak because their people, who are more easily frightened than their governments, can bring those governments down. He doesn't understand that this flexibility--and this trust--are why democracies will live, while he will die. Many of us didn't vote for Bush's government or Blair's. But we're loyal to them, in part because we were given a voice in choosing them. And if we don't like our governments, we can vote them out. We can't vote out terrorists. We can only kill them.
"America needs more voices like this on the left."

And I couldn't agree more.

No, Tom you won't get an answer from LindaK or Bill on just where those bombs should be dropped. They just shoot off their bloodthirsty mouths and never answer questions.
They just want those bombs dropped on brown skinned people anywhere but here.
If a terrorist stronghold was found in their neighborhood do you think they might change their mind on nuking it ????

Mingotree, back during Viet Nam fools like Linda_K and etexbill were saying "kill them all and let God sort the good from the bad".
Now today these 2 neocons are saying the same thing.
Linda_K and etexbill are brain dead. I guess that's because like Linda_K said, they have been hitting their heads against a brick wall. The brick wall she is talking about is reality.
That explains why they still support Bush's Iraq War they just can't face reality any longer.

In case you missed it the first time and since bigpeepa said something about Vietnam I am reposting this.
Kerry by his own words & actions violated the UCMJ and the U.S. Code while serving as a Navy officer.
Lt. Kerry stands in violation of Article 3, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution.
Lt. Kerry's 1970 meeting with NVA Communists in Paris is in direct violation of the UCMJ's Article 104 part 904, and U.S. Code 18 U.S.C. 953.
That meeting, and Kerry's subsequent support of the communists while leading mass protests against our military in the year that followed,
also place him in direct violation of our Constitution's Article 3, Section 3, which defines treason as "giving aid and comfort" to the enemy in time of warfare.
The Constitution's Fourteenth Amendment, Section 3, states, "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President
... having previously taken an oath ... to support the Constitution of the United States, [who has] engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same,
or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof."

Heard on the radio today that there are over 50 organized terrorist groups in Europe. So I again ask the unanswered question
Where do you suggest we drop all these atomic bombs?
If there was a terroist stronghold in your neighborhood would you be willing to die to get them?

Al Smith said that no matter how thin you slice it, it's still baloney.
The simple fact is that the doctrines and policies of the left have NEVER worked. Whether it is 1916 "He kept us out of war", 1938 "peace in our time", or virtually any conflict we've ever been involved in, the fact that leftists cannot comprehend that the answer to the question: "Why do they try to kill us?" can be as simple as "Because he wants to.", empowers our enemies and makes these capitulators ultimately responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions of people over the centuries.
Ultimately, the job HAS to be done and delay just increases the body count.
There is a major war coming in Asia. The Chinese are spending vast amounts on arms and their objective is the oil in the China Sea, which Japan claims as its' zone of influence. The Japanese are re-arming. Japan and China hate each other and unless we deal with the hotspots, the little fires will add to the big ones coming.
Prior to 12/7/41, the US REPUBLICAN PARTY did every thing it possibly could to stymie WAR PREPAREDNESS and support for the DEMOCRACIES in peril (try remembering SEN VANDENBURG and others of his ilk)-- including trying to scuttle Lend-Lease, which just about saved the UK from ultimate disaster...

Where did everyone go? I'd also like to hear where bombs should be dropped. Maybe you could fool them all and say Bin Laden is having a dinner party at the Cave Motel. After they're all seated, drop a nuclear bomb on them and goodbye terrorists!

Kraftdinner I would also like to hear an answer but the Mellow YELLOW twins ran into a brick wall of truth and UNDERSTANDING of terrorists and where they are.
This is what is meant by understanding your enemy.
Just throwing bombs all over is just going to make more enemies but LindaK and Extexbill don't care, they're not in battle, their neighborhood isn't in danger of being blown up.

Yo, imbecile, what does "tory" or "Republican"
have to do with "leftist", "liberal", or the more colloquial "peacenik"? Party affiliation has nothing to do with any of this. The fact that Wendall Wilkie was a 1940 version of Kerry or Truman almost a Reaganite is immaterial.
Oh, and I'll take a history test against you any day.

ming- there is no place to drop bombs. this won't take dropping bombs and blowing entire regions up like the necon strategy calls for. Their strategy is to find the wrong target, tell lies to gain public support for attack, blow it up, create mass genocide, and then sweep the mess under a rug and put a chair over it. It has been nothing but one screw up after another and London is a classic example of it.
It is unfortunate that even one person had to die because Bush and Blair have not done what they should have done from day one and provide public security. There isn't one person that can argue that they knew transportation has been the main tool used by terrorists. Whether it is a plane on 9/11, or a boat putting a hole in the USS Cole, or the trains in Spain, or the bus and trains in London. Mass transport has been the number one target, yet they continue to preach they are tough on terrorism, and will offer protection through fear tactics, but don't back up their words with the necessary funding, manpower, and resources to do the job correctly.
Ironically, you have the neocons here that keep telling those on the left that we are weak on defense, we are anti-american, we support the terrorists, and so on. It is the biggest farce, and they know it. They say it so often that they actually believe the lie. They drink the kool-aid and keep going back for more. Not only do I want our country secure, I expect our leaders and servicmen to do it with professionalism, honesty, and integrity. Leading by example instead of do as we say, not as we do.

Mingotree, isn't that what a lot of people think though? Since 911, I've heard so many people say "why doesn't the U.S. just nuke them and get it over with?". Here too.

thanks kraft for the comps...
its about time bush not only put the money where his mouth is, but also spend it effectively.
here is a novel idea... we could call it... No Terrorist Left Behind. Similar to his No Child Left Behind, but instead, it could actually be for real.
We could start in Afghanistan, where the Taliban and Al Qaeda are still alive and kicking. Take those evil bastards out of the picture. Second, we could actually spend the money allocated towards Homeland Security on well.... homeland security. And even better, since this new program is modeled after No Child Left Behind the agencies who receive funding will have to show progress to get the funding. If an agency isn't doing their job effectively and spending the money appropriately they get cut. Lastly, we need to make sure all public transportation is secure and safe. We need to up the cargo inspections from 5%, to at least 75% within a year, and up to 100% soon after. Don't meet the goal, you get your funding cut and someone else takes over. See where this is going...
Oh, and I bet every single neocon on the RT would agree with this idea. Why??? Well, because it promotes National Security. The idea here is that you either cough up some funding, or you don't get national security. What is gonna be??? More tax cuts for the rich while the poor send their children over to Iraq to be blown up? Come on now. Where are the neocons on this?
posted on July 9, 2005 09:21:06 PM new
Rusty, can you imagine how many and how fast agencies would go out of business for not meeting quotas? It would all be over before it even started.

What was the mind connection from talking about WWII and nuclear bombs to just dropping nuclear bombs anywhere?
I just don't see anyone here promoting that idea.
Or is it just some people here like to goad and harrass? Where is the allowance for discussion?

Well....thank God there are SOME here who can actually read and comprehend what's written. But it's more fun to chomp at the bit and twist the words of others to be untruths....then demand they defend the words they never stated.
I was just ready to respond saying I'd be more than happy to answer AS SOON AS mingetree could copy and paste my words saying we should carpet bomb someone.

It is all based on your fears Linda.
No, my dear mixed-up, totally confused logan....it's based on their actions and their promises. You are the one who is choosing to stick your head in the sand and not see that their bombings since our 9-11 are all directed at us. You are the one who refuses to believe bin ladens tapes...and what their leaders are saying...not me.
During the Vietnam war, the Republicans said he had to fight the war because if we didnt, the Communists would take over us.
How old are you? Were you even born during the VN war? Or were you just a child? You obviously don't have your facts straight about it at all.
Bush is doing the same thing now. What a naive statement....when the whole world can see, as recently as this past week, the actions and intents of the terrorists. You're blinded by your hatred of this President....but that doesn't change the FACTS one tiny bit.

Linda_k, how many times do I have to tell you? I answer questions but I don't answer questions here about my personal life. When I do answer your questions most times it's not what you want to hear so you deliberately pretend I've not answered. The rest of your so-called 'questions' are just nasty commands where you've raged and called me names that don't apply to who I truly am, so of course I don't answer. I thought you would grasp this by now.
