I'd say about half the time the underbidder is interested. The other half of the time they've forgotten about the item entirely! Usually then you don't even get a reply to your email. When they are interested they're usually willing to pay something in the neighborhood of their final bid (maybe without the shipping or some such negotiating point). FYI - on re-listing we do find we often get more money than we did the first time so maybe re-listing really is better.
Anyone else have any experience with selling to the underbidder or is the preference to re-list?

I am a small seller, and sell only beanie babies/buddies, and in two years I have had good luck with buyers, but I did have a few nonpayers around the first of September. It appeared to me from their eMail addresses that most were (probably) students trying out their bidding skills. Once they got into their studies they apparently had less time to fool around on eBay.

I have adapted a zero nag protocol on deadbeat behavior. It's up to them to say they are late and why when they get their NPB alert. Otherwise ten days later they are
FVF credited and can answer to eBay for it.

I have also had an increase in NPB'ers. Most of mine have been feedback ratings of "0". I just left -feedback for one bidder who now has a rating of "-1".

Deadbeats are DEFINITELY out in full force this month. I have several auctions that have been won, sitting here, boxed up, ready to ship....and no payment as been received. Maybe I'm impatient but after 11 days, I'm getting a bit PO'ed. After all, when *I* win an auction, I pay right away (PayPal/MO), that day! I feel like I'm selling things at a store and having the customer say, "Great, I'll be back in a week or two to pay you...maybe." Then, of course, when you send a reminder, the DBs get all defensive...Grrrrrr....

I have a few auctions where I have not received a confirmation email. I am going to wait 10 days since some bidders just send the payment. This is still a higher number than usual.
After the 10 days, I send another EOA notice and if I don't receive a response, I file NPB and immediately relist.
If after the NPB period I still hear nothing, I file FVC and have decided to give a negative. If they want to leave a retalitory negative, I feel that it makes them look even flakier than ever. I only have 2 negatives (both retaliation) and over 500 positives.
I wish more sellers would leave negative feedback for deadbeats.
