protecting our country is isn't one of them to some.

So Linda you believe the leader of a country should do whatever it takes to protect the people of their country?

Your own posting from the katrina threads prove it, I am merely repeating it. I also see you have have no poof as to your charitable giving this Christmas season. The onus is on you, not me.

I make the claim you can either disprove it or not, but the claim is out there.

My sort of like your claim that President Bushed trashed the constitution- Again. LOL

In your opinion and no proof of that either.
You seem hung up on this word "prove" but you are mistaken to believe opinions need to be proved anything. But then you don't seem to know the difference.

No, I have no "poof" and neither do you and what has it got to do with this thread.....ron, watch TV Sunday morning, flip channels, read some newspapers, listen to the radio ... inform yourself....don't rely on me, you don't believe me anyway

helen...that issue is just more mud throwing the liberals have come up with.

The President addressed this in his radio talk this morning....read the transcript...get informed. Read either of the two articles on Fox News online today....LEARN that the President was fully within his rights to do exactly what he did. AND that there ARE checks and balances to all the evesdropping he has permitted regarding the terrorist.

Why are YOU NEVER on our side?

logansdad - I don't appreciate you changing what I actually said.

I said OUR Presidents. They are BY LAW ordered to protect all our citizens.....yes. Exactly what this President has been doing.

Just as clinton and all president's before him, were BY OUR LAWS, REQUIRED to do.

clinton failed with binladen.

And why the American Voters chose to RE-elect President Bush to four more years. YES!!!

And Bush has been a success with bin Laden? That's a laugh. Just where is he that Bush is doing so well with him? Seems to me he's as active as ever if not more so. He's got Iraq now.

I wasn't changing anything you said. I asked a question that I would like an answer to.

Do you believe the leader of a country should do whatever it takes to protect the people of their country?

Linda's typical M.O., when she is backed into a corner she chooses not to reply.

I wonder what guaranteed rights she would be willing to give up in the name of "the war on terror".

They are BY LAW ordered to protect all our citizens

In doing so they must follow the laws and rights that are guaranteed by the Constitution and applicable to all citizens of the United States.

"The American people expect me to do everything in my power under our laws and Constitution to protect them and their civil liberties," Bush said. "And that is exactly what I will continue to do, so long as I'm the president of the United States."

That is what makes a good President and why he won.

Unless that includes getting a FISA judge to authorise random wiretaps on US citizens?

Fourth ammendment:

""The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.""

And then bush lies AGAIN :

under our laws and Constitution

to protect them and their civil liberties"

Doesn't matter whether you like it or not, he was legal all the way.

It has nothing to do with the Patriot act.

The agency involved went after people with NO probable cause, no warrants, the searches were unreasonable...the law was broken by the gestapo tactics of the present administration.
PERIOD.

The only reason a person wouldn't mind this is because it didn't happen to THEM.

The ONLY reason.
Period.

Yes, cheryl....all the chances clinton had to capture bin laden and he wouldn't. RESULT = 9-11

There have been no further bombings on our land since then. Good leadership, a willingness to take action all play a part is why it's NOT happened again.

A true leader is now in charge...not a wimp who was more afraid of a law-suit for taking action against him...while not protecting this Nation.
-------------

Ron - They scream and scream....and some in the Senate are pretending they're going to 'investigate' this. LOL When reports show they've been kept informed of its use all along the way.

But leave it to the whiners.

"As the 9/11 commission pointed out, it was clear that terrorists inside the United States were communicating with terrorists abroad before the September the 11th attacks, and the commission criticized our nation's inability to uncover links between terrorists here at home and terrorists abroad."

"Two of the terrorist hijackers who flew a jet into the Pentagon - Nawaf al-Hamzi and Khalid al-Mihdar, communicated while they were in the United States to other members of al-Qaida who were overseas. But we didn't know they were here, until it was too late."

"The authorization I gave the National Security Agency after September the 11th helped address that problem in a way that is fully consistent with my constitutional responsibilities and authorities. The activities I have authorized make it more likely that killers like these 9/11 hijackers will be identified and located in time. And the activities conducted under this authorization have helped detect and prevent possible terrorist attacks in the United States and abroad."

"The activities I authorized are reviewed approximately every 45 days. Each review is based on a fresh intelligence assessment of terrorist threats to the continuity of our government and the threat of catastrophic damage to our homeland."

"During each assessment, previous activities under the authorization are reviewed. The review includes approval by our nation's top legal officials, including the attorney general and the counsel to the president. I have reauthorized this program more than 30 times since the September the 11th attacks, and I intend to do so for as long as our nation faces a continuing threat from al-Qaida and related groups."

"The NSA's activities under this authorization are thoroughly reviewed by the Justice Department and NSA's top legal officials, including NSA's general counsel and inspector general. Leaders in Congress have been briefed more than a dozen times on this authorization and the activities conducted under it. Intelligence officials involved in this activity also receive extensive training to ensure they perform their duties consistent with the letter and intent of the authorization."

"This authorization is a vital tool in our war against the terrorists. It is critical to saving American lives. The American people expect me to do everything in my power under our laws and Constitution to protect them and their civil liberties. And that is exactly what I will continue to do, so long as I'm the president of the United States."
Thank you.

So....there you have it.
----

I read about kerry's call to impeach this President....at some 'thank you' party he was giving for his 2004 campaign workers. LOL...slime-bucket going around telling everyone he thought this President should be impeached on the day the Iraq's voted for the third time...BECAUSE of this President's actions. Besides being a traitor....he's a snake too.

And on the impeachment issue....reading that some dems are thinking that IF they could get power back in 2006...they'd have enough votes to do just that. LOL....gotta laugh at their stupidity...THEN they'd have Dick Cheney as President. He wouldn't be changing any politicies from what we're doing now.

But that's dem thinking for you....or them not being able to think ahead..

I suppose that means he grants all prisoners speadt trials.....

In case you forgot Jose Padilla is an American citizen and his constitutional right to a speedy trial has been violated.

If the US government had proof he was a terrorist then he should have been charged as one after his arrest, not three years latter.

I ask Ron and Linda what constitutional rights or freedoms they would be willing to give up just to be safe.

Keep giving up your freedoms one by one and soon you will have none left.
