I found the Yahoo fees to have more of an impact on me than the lousey eBay nickel! Once I use up my free listing fees at Yahoo, it's adios. It was great for a while to keep my dups there while I sold on eBay (my sell-through rate according to vrane is 76%).
The only real potential disaster I see for eBay is the 10 day drop a dime on us! I forsee a real possible snafu brewing! I was listing most of my items on WED & THURS to end on SAT & SUN. Now, I'll have to start listing on SAT & SUN & I imagine a kabillion others will. Can we say DOWNTIME???!!!

Calm down a bit, Shosh, and your reading comprehension may improve. The references I and others made to sellers "going elsewhere" were directed at the boycotters taking their BIZ elsewhere in a huff (and how it would benefit those of us who stay behind) - not at posting on this board.

If I had a nickel for every time "eBay Boycott" was mentioned...
Since this isn't a boycott recruiting buyers, I think I'll stick around on eBay. My face looks better with a nose on it.

Galleries, malls, and consigments have fixed prices that should cover those added expenses. Plus there's less time involved.
On ebay, with BIN I still offer the item less than retail, and with auctions it's unknown what price the item will sell for. The time I spend per listing and transaction far exceeds the time I'd spend with other venues.
I'm not knocking ebay. The site does more business than an other website- that was mentioned in the "Announcements," and the price is certainly unbeatable. But as some people think even at .30¢ per listing it is not worth the value because of time involved.

fearlessrick, I can understand the protest of the fee increase...but eBay couldn't give a rat's butt. Their stock is doing well, and their priority is to keep the stockholders happy. Selling like eBay is like any other business--with those all lined up to take their share of the little pie you've made...

Why aren't the eBay boycots conducted when it is more profound such as during the pre-Christmas season?
Just like the previous boycotts I am staying with eBay.
Send your bidders my way!

Gosh, Fearless, what did you do post right in the middle of a "I love eBay convention"?
Apparently, these people are buying & selling on a different eBay than the one that I have been on. I don't know how these people can even consider selling anywhere besides eBay. I spend every penny that I make selling buying & I intend to take my listings which are not selling right now & my buying to other sites from 1/31-2/15 in support of the boycott. I think it is great that the ones posting here are doing so well, but there are others that support their families selling on eBay. Some of them are not doing so great. I will give them my support as they can't make it with the higher shipping fees & lack of eBay bids. It would not be so hard on them if fees would have been raised on FVF instead of listing fees. Glad my eBay money is extra!

Gosh I was impressed with that ebay boycott page. I especially liked the people that signed two or three times to make it look more impressive.

You all convinced me. I just emailed my stock broker and told him to buy me 1,000 shares of Ebay when the market opens Monday. If they are making lots of money now, I'm going to invest my profits from SELLING on ebay to become an OWNER of eBay. Maybe when I get up to a few million shares I can go to a board meeting and demand they give me back my 5¢ per listing. Let's start a real cott, buy ebay shares then when we own the company we can tell them what to do!

Oh Michelle,
It is a painful fact the porqupine quills prick when feathers would be so much nicer.
I agree that it is easy to sit here and say that it is great to send the smaller sellers packing. Wait until the big deals are struck and even the more lucrative mid-size folks are wanting that "winter job."
Oh and one more thing...how the HELL did that nasty thread laughing at a seller get on for so long?
It's one thing to post one's own mistake, but to deride someone else is pretty lame. Kinda goes to show charactor.
Michelle shame on AW for letting that bit of cattery go on for far too long.
Who wins the scratching post award on that one?
yeesh.
First it was Ross that turned my stomach.
Now...?

Why is it that when someone comes to a posting forum to voice their concerns, there
is always someone right there to call them a whiner for doing so? Wouldn't that be
like the pot calling the kettle black? After making such an argument against the
complainers, how could that same person then deduce that is okay for them to come
to the same forum and "whine" about the "whiners"? LOL
