On my auction I clearly state: Will not accept money orders that are payable in the U.S. Only. Im from Canadan and my bank will not cash them. In my email stating payment terms WILL NOT ACCEPT......Every week I get one! There are sitting on my dresser waiting for me to travel down to the U.S.
Laugh or cry but its still money! and someday I will get paid. and to think this is a hobby. Now someone is insisting they have paid through paypal ~ no notice from paypal , and no payment...I wonder when she will start asking for her books?

This is kind of off subject, but in the same vein. I love, and spend lots of time researching, MYSTERY PAYMENTS. No item number or even a description on the check or money order, and of course the name either so poorly scrawled on the money order it is only decipherable by the CIA or a printed name on the check (usually maiden name or signifficant others name) that does not match up with any thing that was ever email backed to me. @^$@%@%@_*)_*

I received a blank money order Saturday for $122.50, with no return address I haven't sold a single item for that price so it must be several items or someone sent the wrong money order.
Still no return address and nothing on the money order not even my name.
I guess I'll just wait and see.

I have posted the solution to the mystery payments problem several times. Here it is again:
Send your winning bidders a payment address that looks something like this:
First Last
IN-1234
123 Anystreet
Anytown, Anystate 12345
The IN stands for the ebaY item number.
The number after the IN is the last 4 digits of the item number. I've been using this method for months now and my mystery payments have ceased to be a problem. The longest one to match up took about 5 minutes (it was for a dutch auction).
This method has worked perfectly for me 100% of the time, although a few sellers who tried it after I first posted it said that some bidders simply left out the IN line. I guess it depends on the IQ level of the bidders in your category.

I'd use that but I use PMB service for my mail. (Private Mail Box).
My Address has to be
Joe Barese
828 Royal St.
PMB 257
New Orleans La 70116
Any deviation from that and they put a big red stamp on it stating that USPS regulations state etc etc etc.
It is a good idea though.

My dumb question of the day...
I bid on your item after noticing you don't ship International. Oh well, it's too late now so will you consider shipping to Canada?
-My charge for this get's expensive and guess who pays! (Not me.

You could try talking to your PMB service- maybe they'd let you have your mail addressed like this:
Joe Barese
828 Royal St.
PMB 257-1234
New Orleans La 70116
where -1234 is the last 4 digits of the item number. If the people at your PMB service are halfways accomodating, that shouldn't present them with any problems, and it would keep the post office people happy, too.

My best one just happened last week. Got a MO in the mail that just said "stamp". Ok, I only sell about 200 of those a week, and many sell at about the same price as the money order! I couldn't read the name, but it was postmarked TN. I did a search of my incoming emails and drew a blank. A couple of days later, I was finally able to match it to an auction that it might possibly be, so I emailed the buyer to find out if it might possibly be hers. I explained that I had not received an email reply for this auction and there was no indentifying info with the payment.
I got back an angry email saying: "You mean you haven't sent my stamp yet! I sent a money order so I would get fast shipping. I don't see what the problem is. You knew exactly what I won when you sent me the bill."
Go figure! I bet I get lovely feedback from this one!
