I apologize from the bottom of my heart about my complaints over the 'punch the monkey' banners and the casino banners. They were a pleasure compared to these popup ads. Thank God that the print industry doesn't have the equivilent. Imagine reading a magazine and suddenly the magazine turns into an ad that you have to put down and pick up the magazine again.

Dear AuctionWatch, now that I am a paying customer and have been since you started charging, please stop these pop-up ads!
It's an insult to me.
Thank you

It is worse than annoying. It has a bug in it from double click that tracks you. if you do not beleive me download ad aware and you will see the spyware bug. ad aware will kill the bug and remove it but it will not get rid of the pop up. everytime it comes up it will replace the bug and you will have to remove it again.
This is not a joke

It disabled all my yahoo games though I have to uninstall the thing. Can't go a night without euchre and spades. It's only stopping the stuff I want and the stuff I don't want is still popping up!

pobo: when that pop up comes up it puts something like a cookie but much smaller in your system. it is called a bug. the bug in this case is from a company called doubleclick. it tracks your surfing habits. if you look around the internet there is a free program called ad aware that shows you the bugs and removes them. you will be amazed at whats in your system watching. it sounds weird but it is true.
dumping cookies wont get rid of bugs.

this will only get rid of the bug not the pop up. but you should have it anyway. you will nedd to use it everytime the pop up comes up.
at this moment i am trying webwash (free) to block the pop up and that seems to work but i am not sure yet.

reddeer: did you run it? its spooky to see the people who follow you. remember you will have to run it after the pop up comes up again. or any ad that you see when surfing. also try grc for more free security. you can run test on your ports to see if they are open.

You have to pay for it...but try Norton Internet security. It will utterly and completely crush all of those pop up ads. Not only that, it will stop all banner ads as well.

Next time the thing "pops up" (it's not a pop under), I'm going to take a close look at the code. Pop up's are annoying, but web tracking bugs are intrusive, and an invasion of privacy Sites have every right to keep an eye on what I do on their site, but to follow me around the net is another story.
Who Need's a stink'n Sig. File?

Powerhouse - you're welcome.
I'm still getting the pop-ups. With POW it shows up for a split-second before it's nuked. I just ran Ad Aware - thanks for the heads up about the bug - that didn't occur to me - but everything's okay - no critters in my machine this time.
On a similar note - my IE search has been hijacked! When I click search all I get is some nasty search engine called snapy.com
Yahoo, Alta Vista, Lycos, etc are gone and Snapy.com is filled with junk mail-type categories...ie viagra, casino, mortgage etc. It's driving me nuts! I can go to "customize" and set it for one of the usual ones but it will only do one at the time. Any suggestions?

microbes: i agree and i also believe this type of invasion of privacy hurts the internet in the long run. less and less people trust it. it does nothing but turn people away.

Here's the source code i said I was going to capture and save if it happened again. I havn't had time to study it and see if a web tracking bug is in it yet, and Blanche is better at spotting them than I am.

There's a script being executed in your browser by someone's web site....
I've been working with some of the different browsers on my Macs and have found that disabling scripting or Javascript has eliminated the pop ups and browser modifications....
I'm sure the same rules apply to Wintel boxes but I just can't give you a specific menu item to look for....it'll be in the properties or preferences for your browser...
Just remember or write down what you do so you can return the settings to normal when the problem subsides....

That damn popup is still coming up.
Thank goodness I don't use any of Auction Watch's services. I come here to read the eBay message centre, but no reason to do that either when AW is going to intrusively use this kind of crap/spyware on an ongoing basis.

I'm still getting the pop-up, pop-under, whatever it is, everytime I enter AW, use the back button, or open a new thread.
It does not lock up my computer, but it sure is annoying!
P.S. And I also just got the pop-up when I posted this message!!!!!
