OFFTOPIC Note==Ebay stock dropped to near 30 after the WTC and then climbed back to around 60 and now seems to be backsliding again (around 52 yesterday).

Ebay stock has always been a day traders dream with it's ups and downs. I suspect there won't be too many more ups tho.

By the way where is the ignore button or is that a euphemism for just skipping that post?

I'm actually a big fan of AFA. We saw sales increase during this time because we participated by selling items that cost us very little. We found that many customers purchases AFA items and purchased other items from us.

Glad you were able to "capitalize" on the tragedy for your own personal benefit.

Many sellers listed a bunch of "low value" AFA items (i.e. no real benefit to the charity) with the apparent goal to drive customers to their web page or other eBay items (and, of course, it worked). I have very little respect for them.

In fact, they're just as bad as eBay for taking advantage of the situation IMHO. Not saying that was YOUR intent jctweed, but I've seen many others using the same model and it makes me sick.

I think everyone should stop sending funds to A4A or any of the 9-11 charities until these so called special funds for victims become accountable for the money they have taken in. And answer to someone as to why funds are not getting to the people this money was intended and why they are being allowed to redirect funds that have been collected.

For instance the Associated Press reported today that The American Red Cross acknowledged Monday that some of the $550 million dollars donated to a special fund established for the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks will be used for other broad-bases needs of the Red Cross. Whatever that means.

According t the report $50 million dollars will be spent on a blood readiness and reserve program. $26 million will be spent on nationwide community outreach programs and $29 million will be spent on the Red Cross’s infrastructure, including telecommunications, information systems, database management, contribution processing and other “over head” costs. $105 million NOT going for its intended use and this is just the funds from the Red Cross. What about all the other 100 + charities collecting money like the September 11th Fund, The New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund, The Twin Towers Fund and the United Way.

For example the latest available figures as of October 19th show that $356 million dollars has actually been collected for the Liberty Fund so far and 121.3 million has been spent with almost none of the money going to victim’s families.

Where is the money going? These charities are still asking for your donations, but why? To fill their coffers. I thought these funds would go to people who had immediate needs due to losing someone in this terrible tragedy. It doesn’t look as though that is happening so no more donations are coming from me. Not for Auction for America or any other charity associated with 9-11
