I ship overseas. Some of my best customers have been in France, Germany, UK and the Netherlands. At a time when no one in the US was bidding, they were. Think I'll keep them!

Yeah, Cheryl we all say that until we get hit by the wackos out there -- take my Dutch friend, PLEASE!
My vendor will ship overseas ONLY via USPS GLOBAL EXPRESS MAIL -- so all my drop-ship auctions say: "Contact me for a USPS GLOBAL EXPRESS MAIL Shipping quote BEFORE bidding."
What does he do?
He BINS TWO auctions (WITHOUT EVER CONTACTING ME BEFORE HAND!!!!!!!!!)& COMPLAINS when I COMBINE SHIPPING for $35 (at a LOSS to ME)!
Then he cements our friendship with these TWO NEGS:
#1:Seller dont listen to my I lost 55 US $ to much for schipping
#2:Seller think y the King I pay 55 US $ to much dont sent my by US POSTAL
LEARN TO READ ENGLISH, jerk!
NO more Hanzes-N-Franzes for me & Ralphie!

LOL, you really get them! Do you think maybe Ralphie is secretly encouraging them when you're away from the 'puter? Tell your Dutch bidder that he needs to look at what those selling in China charge us for shipping. . .$40 for a small necklace for example.
I've had some wacko U.S. bidders that's for sure. All my NPB's have been US bidders. It may depend on what you sell. I sell mostly jewelry and some antiques. The antiques I will not ship overseas. Jewelry is relatively easy. I can send multiple jewelry items Global Priority for $5. I did have a bidder in Ireland win a huge box of vintage records. It cost $35 to ship, but they didn't complain. Sending one record to Japan cost $17, no complaints there either. Guess it also depends on which country you are dealing with. Too bad you can't be more country specific. Wackos come from both sides of the ocean, though.

This wasn't just an isolated case -- it was the LAST STRAW!
I will miss the BRITS and the JAPANESE bidders, but just about nobody else -- just ain't worth the aggravation of it!
My domestic shipments I can just leave out for my mailman -- but the international ones have to go to the PO & I DON'T DRIVE!
My drop-ship items are sensitive electronics & about 1% will arrive DOA just from shipper abuse -- not that big a deal if the buyer is in Bird-In-Hand, PA, but a real disaster if he is in Elbonia!
I've converted all my drop-ship auctions to USA only, & will soon do the same with my collectibles -- and I'll sleep easier at night not worrying about Maurice Moose-Poop from ElbowMacaroni, Alberta & his insistance that his $200 item is REALLY a gift worth $10!!!

Hi
I have always excepted International bidders and I also accept payment with paypal from them.
I only charge 1.00 over the actual cost of shipping, I do the same for USA buyers also.
I also state in my auction that I ship once a week, but if you are in a rush I will ship your item out right away. This also applies for USA/International.
For me I have found that once in a while an International buyer will ask me to mark as gift on the customs form, which I state in my auction I WILL NOT DO THAT.
I also pay for pick up service 12.50 a week, but that is my choice. I also use a program to print my postage and shipping lable, $15.00 a month, that also is my choice, What I'm saying is that my profit on my auction items have to cover my expenses, it is not fair to charge your buyer extra because you choose to have other expenses.
I have been lucky for 7yrs with my International buyers just once in a while a small problem might pop up but its quickly fixed. I am in New York and my biggest problem buyers have been from New York also......lol.........
The bottom line here is, speaking for MYSELF, I would not give up my International Buyers, but I would love to block New York buyers..lol
We all need to do what works best for us,
and for me this has been working.

I agree with the gist of what you're saying Agate18. You have to understand that a lot of sellers think it's OK to overcharge on shipping if they didn't make enough money on their sold item - plain & simple. That's why they leave the shipping prices out of their descriptions. Also, some sellers make you pay for their getting out of bed, their soap, wear on clothes, shoes, tires, gas, insurance, time "waiting in line", and anything else they can think of, while complaining about not having bidders! Some just don't get it.

Some just don't get it. So full time sellers need to sleep on a park bench and go out and beg for that stuff or what? Maybe they should go get a job at McDonalds so they sell everything at cost.

No Whatnot. Fulltime sellers should know their business and make their profit from the items they sell, not use the shipping to bridge their profit. If they can't make enough on the items, then they need to sell different stuff.

I do this for a living. Packing and shipping is part of the job. Cost of materials is factored into the sales prices. I find filling out the green customes form a pain (with I could computer generate them).
Only problem I had was with a couple of Canadians (think they were scamming) aside from them ship to the UK, Japan, Netherland, Norway, Australia, Simgapore, Hong Kong, Australia and France regularly find the customers to be much more polite than my fellow conutrymen and women.
