neglus: Gosh, I thought I had a lot of postcards. I recently bought a used 8 drawer, double-sided file cabinet. It is full and I have a few boxes also. You must have thousands. My daughter threatens to have me committed if I buy anymore.

Parkman, I think you are right though about at least helping somebody out. I thought of that today. Everything gets sold and resold over eventually. I bought something from a dealer at the fleamarket yesterday and he said to me, "thanks you made my day - now I can go buy some lunch." And I knew he was telling the truth because he sells high and doesnt hardly ever get many takers. He has some nice glass pieces and such but he sticks to his prices and waits it out. I see many look and pass him by, though whenever I am there. - And thats got to hurt some days. I know how I feel when some of my stuff sells and I think, oh good, at least now I can cover what I already spent! even the little sales seem like blessings. And today I had a good ebay day...so I am very pleased. (hurrah!!)
But like you've said it is the getting to it and getting it all listed that is the biggest obstacle at times.

Nero - Believe me - I considered it

Jack - you should send some of those people down to Koby's in San Diego. Runs Friday, Sat, Sun (Fridays suck!). $40 a day for a spot. It's in the San Diego Sports Arena parking lot. http://www.kobeyswap.com

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Weird,I am on my Way to SD in the early A.M. Got a faire to move a guys apt. Stuff. $400.00 not bad! Colby,,,,been there, as a Buyer, just to check it out. Waaaaaaaaay to far for the locals here to go. 160 miles RT. If I lived there, Yup! I'd be sellin' there. There are other weekday swaps down there too. Oceanside, tried it a few times seller. From Ventura to SD. Been there done that. lots of week day swaps in L.A. and O.C. Weekdays however,,,,I'd rather BUY MORE stuff! Might start Doing (selling) the Rose Bowl again. It's $1000.00 Sunday!

Bill - I think I have closer to 50,000 postcards - not all of them "good" by any means...some junk ones I bought in ebay lots. I list about 1600/month (not counting the store) so I need to have a large stock. This should hold me for awhile (at least until our Spring postcard show)but I am always looking .

I always try to list from my newest acquisitions until I recover the price I paid for them - then I figure I am making a profit. Just a funy quirk I have.

I also got an offer to buy all the junk cards I can put together - I just need time to go through them!

Neglus--I do the same about selling from the newest until I have my money back. I am sure I am not completely into 100% profit but I am not far from it so guess I will start selling lower and hope for some bidding wars.
I love doing ebay and would like to do it full time but have to have those benefits that come with a job outside..I have been on vacation for 2 weeks and am getting ready now to go to work today and it stinks. Ya'll have a nice day.

JACK: You have the right idea!! DON'T SIT ON IT!! Get rid of it at any price. The secret of a good retailer is "TURNOVER". The faster you can turn over your inventory the more you can make. Thius was something I could not get through my EXwife's head. We bought a beautiful concert organ for $80.00, the blue book was $1200.00. She wouldn't lower the price. While she was gone to a wedding , I sold it for $750.00. Not bad for an $80.00 investment.

I love it!!!!! I thought I was (almost) alone with this.
rarriffle - you sound just like me. I have 2 armories in my living room and organizers full of jewelry everywhere. Hat boxs full of jewelry, jewelry parts & jewelry to repair.
Then I found I could make better money on ebay with other items so now my garage is full and stuff is everywhere. At least jewelry is small.
I would have really thought I was crazy but I have a really good friend who has 5 or 6 storage units and she shops EVERYDAY - and now buys furniture.
Please help us all!!!!!!!

Control!!! Wow, that is crazy. I have a 20 x 20 area of my basement with racks of clothes to be listed, plus several boxes. I am pretty organized, so I don't have rooms full of items. I simply list as I go. I do know what it means to stockpile though. We opened our own shop here in Portland selling mid-century furniture, lighting, etc. and I have enough stuff in storage to keep me going for awhile, especially with projects like making a new cushion for a chair, or reupholstering a set of dining chairs, or putting a lampshade on a lamp, or rewiring something. I like the idea of having the backstock in case of a rainy day, or god forbid, an injury that keeps me out for an extended period of time. I could still list what we have or sell items from storage.

Everything I list is new and I like to keep my inventory moving so it doesn't stay here long,if I can't sell it I mark it down and get rid of it somehow and reinvest my money in something else. But as far as several rooms of stuff to go on E-Bay...there ain't no way I'm gonna do that. But I guess you could say I cheat as I have merchandise in two fleamarkets, they are packed full.
