And just how do you people know that Ebay is not donating money for this??
Why worry if Ebay or any other large company gives or not it is after all up to them to decide what they will do.
I just find it a lot easier to do my own thing then worry about what some one else is doing.

EBay is working with a nonprofit auction site called MissionFish to provide an easy way for eBay sellers to donate a cut of their sales to charity.

READ THE NEWS AND MAYBE YOU WILL BE INFORMED!
I am very well aware what Ebay is doing with their charity auction. My statement is still valid as you do not know for a fact if Ebay is giving any money or not on their own.
Till those facts come out there is no point in whining about it. Bottom line is that this is a choice made by one and all if they wish to give or not.

"Why worry if Ebay or any other large company gives or not it is after all up to them to decide what they will do. "
I dont understand based on what you said above, then why is ebay worried about what the sellers are doing by setting up for them to donate a part of there sales.
And if ebay was planning on donating any money they would have been sure to have it in the press before anyother statements!
You remind me of the cows and sheep lined up in single file at the slaughter house, your comment there would probably be "just keep walking
nevermind what they are doing up front"

I agree with cantwin. I was just going to post that there surely would have been a lot of publicity from Ebay's PR people if they were giving some of their OWN profits. It does seem cheap of them just to "let" us little sellers "donate" our own money.

Point one... I just can not see Ebay being worried about a auction. That was set up to make it easy for people who wanted to help.
One auction is a lot more easy to focus on than a dozen. The thing you are missing is that if you want to give ..fine! If not..fine also.
Why are you so focused on what Ebay or anyone else is doing?? It is up to them!
It is not up to you or me or anyone else to complain if they are giving or not.
As far as the rest of your comment goes, makes no sense at all. Why not just email Ebay and ask them since you are so bent out of shape about it.

Ebay did post the following announcement - I hope that their contribution will be substantial.
"On behalf of eBay and PayPal, the eBay Foundation will be making a contribution to help with the relief efforts in Asia, and we are investigating other ways to help as more information becomes available and the needs of those affected become more clear."

feeBay is a publically traded company with a responsibility FIRST to its shareholders...
Seems a tad unrealistic to expect them to get all generous during a disaster.
There are thousands of organizations which are pitching in -- donate!
OTOH: I really do NOT want a repeat of their AUCTIONS FOR AMERICA fiasco...
Afterall, Prez Pretzel-Choker reached deep deep down into his faith-based heart of Scotch & came up with a whopping $15 million in golf tees!

You're kidding, right? You have to be. You've only been on Vendio since 2001. How long have you been with eBay? To have helped form eBay into the "billion dollar corp", Cantwin, you would have been on with eBay since mid 1997 or earlier when they were AuctionWeb. If you started in 2000 or later than you were walking over those of us who really took the risk and helped form the foundation.
By the way, did you contribute money last year when they had a strong earthquake and tens of thousands died in Iran? Or do you only hit the charitable disasters that make CNN two consecutive days?

Ebay said that the Ebay Foundation IS donating and I believe them...why would they lie about it?? Boy you guys are crabby today!
I think ebay was just trying to facilitate a way for members to donate and hence the announcements about charity auctions and PayPal donations. I know I wanted to donate online and was afraid to just signon to a link , even to what I ASSUMED to be UNICEF with all the hokey websites out there these days - I donated through PayPal and was happy that ebay gave me the means to do so.

Cant - All you have to do is have minimal reading and comprehension skills and a memory somewhat greater than that of a goldfish to know that many of those that post here would not have an income if they were not selling on ebay. There are a number who have stated that they are full time ebay sellers. It is their job and their whole income. Do you think they were lying?
Shes just a corporate ass-kissing follower and sounds like a spinster to me!!
This would be a clear demonstration of your absolute lack of a clue but thank you for the laugh doll. That is about the funniest thing I have read all week.
Breg - by jerks like me do you mean those that are able to change with the times and make money? I understand that it must truly suck to know that others succeed where you fail. I feel for you, forgive you your bitterness, and wish you better luck in the new year.

Fenixo03 - I have know respect for your brainless comments, about success or bitterness since you do not know me. Ebay is going down the tubes, because of there greedy fees, and has a feedback system that sucks, and a new wave of buyers that are lowlifes. Ebay chased all the good buyers away and could care less about the sellers.
They created this new atmosphere. I have been a seller since the start of Ebay and 25 years in the Antique Business. Fenixo03 I'am glad you made sense about one thing, that you admit that you are a JERK!!! you have no street smarts, you can't even see the BULL S right in front of you.

Breg - This is coming from someone who is either too new to have a clue what I do or too gutless to post under their regular id? Give me a break. By the way, you have it wrongo n the jerk part... I do however proudly admit to my ability to be a complete b*tch when the occasion calls for it.
I still have to wonder though. If ebay is so horrendous, why use it? Seriously. You think the fees are too high, the bidders are scum and you are not treated fairly. if your spouse had those traits you would divorce them so why continue to contribute to it's coffers?

unlike fenix03 the fake, phony, fraud, full of hot air that she is,Breg you must be from my part of the country or very close like New Jersey where we tell it like it is!
fenix03 you said
"minimal reading and comprehension skills and a memory somewhat greater than that of a goldfish "
I simply stated that the correct thing for ebay to do is come out and anounce how much they were donating ? not asking the sellers to donate, i dont need ebay to tell me how i need to donate my money.
Thats Like if Ford Motor Corpsaid to its employees look we would like all you employees to donate $40.00 out of your check this week and then ford ececutive offices not doing anything, then you have to stick your fat ass comments in,

I think alot of Ebay Sellers will be jumping ship this year, and ebay will start too go down the tubes. I'am I getting thru your PEA BRAIN!!! You still have not made any sense in any of your statments. You need too have your Brain re-wired Fenix you need some serious help.

Cantwin:
By your own admission, you choose your donations. You don't say how much; could be a $5 paypal transfer for all I know. You're right, I don't know you. And I don't think you know most people here. Why are you incessed if eBay doesn't publically declare their donations? If we all are the foundation that made eBay (in your words), why do you get to pick and choose the process and recipients.
More than $1 billion has been offered to victims with almost a third from the U.S. I don't think its more money that's going to help them in the victims in the next 7 days. If you've never been involved in a true catastrophic situation; you don't have a clue what needs to be done. I have. So I can sit here on my high horse.

Well based on the above statement iam sorry to hear that you were involved in a catatrophic situation, however i also have been involved not one but two so i know what its like first hand, however each persons perception and defenition of a catastropic situation varies.
I still say Breg nake some valid points on this board and isnt this for everyone to express the opinion not just one sided!
