We traveled 2.5 hours to Huntington Beach to be with daughter and family. She decided not to make stuffing this year, and I missed it. But everything else was fine. I brought three pies, made by the camp cooks here at Idyllwild Pines Camp. FABulous pies, crusts even decorated, pumpkin, cherry, and apple--and $8 each. (I don't think I could have made them for that!)
But. . . while we were in H. Beach, my best friend called. I'd sent her my sour cream apple pie recipe--but left out one ingredient, and she was smart enough to notice! Yikes. Close call.
Years ago my husband's aunt, who didn't cook and had always had help, decided to have us all at her place and she'd do the turkey. When she went to scoop out the dressing at the table, we discovered that she'd poured in corn bread stuffing, dry, and baked the turkey. That's it, nothing else. And out poured corn bread stuffing, dry. It was really hysterial at the time.
