Hi..I am still trying to get PayPal
to answer why a customer is still
in the "pending" state when they
have paid other auctions! PayPal
said they were confirmed & reward
was paid to me....but not the bill.
Can anyone give me PayPal telephone
number?

A customer asked to pay by PayPal
and that is when I joined. Never
did get the $10 bonus award, but
maybe that wasn't part of the deal.

Thanks for any answers.

I think this grew faster than they thought it would. I have received responses to all my inquiries although some have taken a while. There was a phone no. listed on their site, it should still be there. I've had no issues to complain about other than I thought a response should come in 24 hrs.

I have also found them to be hopeless. They claim to have sent me $111.90 on Feb 7. It never showed up. I sent them e-mails starting on Feb 23 and have yet to get a response that they are even looking into it. They have now held onto my money for two months.

It is terrible that Paypal can get away with their very poor customer response. I have had money tied up for over a month with no help from them. For anyone looking for their Phone number which they do not post, it's 1-800-836-1859. Good luck! I've been trying for a month to get thru and it's always busy. Any financial institution that handles accounts this way should be put out of business. Is there some state or federal agency that could investigate them??

Been waiting over a month for a confirmation # by mail, so that I can access my account....and $150... Wonder how much interest they are collecting on cash of other accounts being held hostage this way!! Thanks for posting the toll free # for Paypal...!

I finally got the information from PayPal. I too think it is
due to growing pains. No problem getting money as have
it sent to my bank account and is there within a couple of
days. Try that instead of asking for a check to be sent to
your home!

I just sent a complaint to the SEC -
'[email protected]'

-----------------------------

I would like to let you know that there are a number of customers of PayPal who have had their money tied up with no way to get a response. I have been trying to contact PayPal since I asked them to send me a check in early February. The check was not sent, but the amount waws deducted from my account. I have not received a single e-mail or telephone call to straighten this out, even though I have written numerous e-mails. Calling them is useless - the line is busy during all of their working hours. Other users have complained. Please see:

http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=10&thread=821

If you are not the correct agency to contact, please advise who I should notify of this problem.

I too am having serious problems with paypal. I transferred $800 from my paypal account to my checking account over a month ago and it has yet to arrive. I have repeatedly contacted paypal with nothing in response but form letters. As soon as I feel it is safe I will withdraw all funds and close the account.

I have sent an e-mail to the SEC. I would like to suggest that others who are losing money do the same or, perhaps someone can suggest a more useful forum? If this happened with a REAL bank, the government and the customers would go nuts. Not having enough customer services is no excuse. This is a matter of hiring people and responding to e-mail. There is a certain minimal level of service that must be provided by an organization that handles money.
(in my humble opinion...)

For the past 40+ hours, I have been trying to log in to PayPal to check my account, but I keep getting a message "Unexpected error:3006. We are experiencing tempory difficulties. Please try again later." Has anyone else experienced this problem? A friend in another state logged in with not problem.

I agree with Gaylene from April 15.
You have a better chance getting your funds by transferring it to your checking account. I have only had two buyers pay so far with Paypal but both times transferred my money over to my checking and it was deposited within 3 days, each time. It's worth a try.

Good News, for me anyway. Paypal seems to have gotten control of their runaway success and are in the process of turning the customer service troubles around.

I've gotten my problems resolved. Their response time has gone to minutes/24hrs. Most of my contacts have been responded to with 15 minutes with completion within 24 hours. I thought their answers to some question were not detailed enough but after asking the question 2 or 3 times and getting more answers, I got it figured out. Getting around their site could test the patience of a saint at certain times, but hopefully that will change also. Anyway I forgive them and hope things keep improving, because when it is working right, it is a most wonderful way to conduct payments and collections on the internet.

I have also sent notice to the SEC about this extremely poorly run business. I suggested also to the SEC that they look at this site for other people with the same problems. If I ever get my money, I will close my account. I am also making it a point to denouce them in my auction descriptions on e-bay. It big letters I put.

PLEASE DON'T EVEN ASK ME TO ACCEPT PAYPAL PAYMENTS. I WAITED OVER A MONTH TO GET MONEY THAT WAS PROMISED IN 3-5 WORKING DAYS.

Would like to suggest the rest of you do the same.

Just thought I'd post an update. Paypal finally straightened things out. It took over three months. I asked about interest on the money they held on to. They blamed it on lost e-mail, the US postal system and other things beyond their control. I'm not surprised. But at least I got the money back.

salsburg,

I'm happy to hear that your issue was resolved, and I'm sorry you had such a frustrating experience.

Everyone,

In an effort to improve communication between PayPal and our members, a PayPal representative will be monitoring and responding to posts between 9:00AM and 5:00PM PST Monday through Friday. Please let us know how we're doing!

Many of you have voiced frustration with our customer service. We have been steadily ramping up our customer service department to meet the needs of our users, and I'm happy to report that we've recently opened a new customer service center in Omaha, Nebraska. The new center will seat up to 500 representatives, and we've hired 200 already! I think you'll be seeing some definite improvements in the very near future.

Sincerely,

Jennifer

I am new to PayPal and must admit, I am a little leary of the whole set up. I had them deposit payments made to me directly to my account. Does the money really show up in 2-3 days (it's been only 2 days since my request)? I don't want to mail merchandise to the buyer until I know the money is there. Do the rest of you sellers wait until payment is in your account before mailing merchandise?

It took over three weeks to get my money and 4 calls to their 800 number
(waiting an average of 25 minutes each on hold) and 5 e-mails to their
support url (of which 3 were answered one week later) none of which did any
good. I canceled my account and have put a big notice in all my e-bay auctions
that I will not even consider Pay Palpayments.

Hi delight,

As I've posted on the ebay outlook forum, the PayPal site is down as of 11:30AM PST while we tackle some technical difficulties. It was also down earlier this morning for about half an hour. I apologize for the inconvenience.

pianotoone,

I'm very sorry to hear that you couldn't get an answer from our customer service department and chose to cancel your account with PayPal. I understand your frustration, however, and wish you best of luck with your auctions.

One comment on bank transfers:

Transfers generally take up to 3-5 days, but can take up to 7 depending on the bank. It is extremely important to double-check the account number and bank routing number before submitting a transfer request. If either of these numbers is wrong, it can take up to 3 weeks for your bank to verify the mistake, reject the transfer, and send the money back to PayPal.

Thanks,

Jennifer

I haven't had any problems with paypal at all until today when i went to login. But I am not that worried. I have always had the money wired when my balance gets over $100, a little wary of leaving to much money where I can't have immediate access Well they usually take only 3 days for my wiring of money to go through. I like their service so far and have no gripes....YET. But this technical problem is getting me more and more wary the more hours it takes...we will see if our money is still there.....

wow, I'm stunned, I have just read all the posts here. I joined paypal the 1st of March, and have had no trouble at all. About 50% of my bidders are paying with paypal. I transfer money about twice a week with a 3 to 4 day turn around. Still faster than snailmail. I too have had trouble getting in the site but I have had the same problems with eBay, and billpoint. I have recived at least $25.00 in referal money from people signing up from my auction site. It has been a win-win situation for me.

Michelle and chrishendrix,

Thank you for your posts. We continue to experience technical problems with the site, and as of 9:00AM PDT I don't have an update on when we expect to have it back to normal. The site is currently running very slowly, and some people are not able to log on at all. Please be assured that your money is still in your account!

When I have an update, I will post here and on the threads in the eBay Outlook.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Paypal has been using the "growing pains" excuse for months now. I've quickly realized that the more money I have in my account, the greater difficultly I have accessing it! Does anyone have any experience with the new PAYPLACE.com? Let's use them and put Paypal OUT OF BUSINESS! Let's face it, money (or the lack of it) talks! If Paypal won't fix the problem, it's time we take our business elsewhere! Go Payplace.com!!!!

It always amazes me how impatient, frustrated and paranoid we can get when people don't respond to us right away. If people only understood how complicated and intricate setting up this kind of program is, they may be a little more understanding. Having had experience with setting up an on-line auction, I have a good idea what paypal is going through. It is no wonder, with it's instant success, that Paypal is having growing pains. I have been using this service for only 2 months and have had a check delivered to my home in less than a week after it was requested. It has worked like a charm for me. Great job paypal and I am sure that you will work out the present problems that a few people seem to be having. This is a great idea as is obvious by the fact that so many people have joined and are using your service. One bit of advice, never let a day go by without some sort of response to any inquiry. Do you need an employee to help in customer support? Sounds like you need several.

Best Regards all,
Mike

I have had a few problems, but the plusses far outweigh the minuses as far as I am concerned. I have an x.com account and I just move my money from paypal to x.com, and it works like a charm!! I love this service, keep up the good work, and we'll be able to live through the few downtimes there will be!
