Well I thought it would never happen to me but it did and now I am not sure how to handle this.

I normally only sell antiques but my daughter had two concert tickets that she needed to sell because two of friends were not going to be able to go so I put them up for bid for the cost that we paid for them.

Well this person named Denny emailed me and told me that for some reason he was not able to use his email through ebay but asked me very graciously if I would be willing to stop the auction and sell these tickets to him. Which I did . Well a week went by and this concert was to be held the following weekend so I emailed him asking if he had sent the Money order yet so that I would have time to get these tickets in the mail to him. He wrote back and told me that he had sent an overnight registered mail envelope to me and that it had been returned to him because he accidently put the wrong zip code. He was concerned about missing the concert and went on to say that if I could please trust him and send the tickets out that day he assured me he would get that money order resent to me that day. So stupidly I obliged. 3 days later, I enquired again. He said he would send me the tracking number and it was sent . It is now 3 weeks later, he has been to the concert and I am still without the money for these tickets and he is now refusing to answer my email.

Since this was done outside of ebay is there anything at all I can do? This is the first and only time I will ever trust anyone again by sending something unpaid. I should have known better. Can I at least post his email and name to Ebay in case he hoodwinks others?

You were taken, plain and simple. Nothing you can do because you have no proof that you didn't receive the money.

Hard lesson to learn, but better now than to continue. Never send anything without payment in hand. Would you have sent one of your antiques first?

Unfortunately you have to chalk this up to a bad experience.

Most likely because he couldn't use his ebay email he was already suspended from the site when he emailed you. You can look him up using his email address and see how many times he's done this before. That's all you can do. Since it was off auction, you have no recourse through ebay at all. I'm wondering how he got your email address without being registered though. Do you put it in your auction?
