As of yesterday, it seems that newly listed items have galleries that have been uploaded to ebay images and not the hosted Vendio images. The result is that instead of having enlarged images of 1000 - 1500 pixels, our images are appearing at 800 pixel maximum. I don't know if eBay made the change sitewide (smaller enlarged images) or just to the self hosted ones. We still don't get to have ALL of our images appear in the gallery like those who list through eBay directly. What's up with this?

Hello,

This change happened on the 28th, where eBay is once again going back to copying images sent in as gallery pictures and hosting them on their own servers. We'll check to be sure this isn't an optional thing where we'd still be able to do it the way it had been working (using third party hosted images).

Chris

Are they limiting images directly uploaded through their listing form to 800 pixels as well? Is there any way that we can get our second (or more) images uploaded like the users who list directly through eBay?

I notice if I right click on my gallery image I get location information, but when I right click on one of my friend who lists directly through eBay gallery, I am unable to pull up image information.

Hello,

The only way to get images to appear up at the top of the listing page the way images do when you use eBay image hosting services is to use eBay image hosting services. You cannot 'map' third party images to these locations, you have to use their image hosting service in order to get that display.

I have linked my images from Vendio to Ebay for some time now. All of a sudden Ebay is re-sizing them from what the size is uploaded to Vendio in. If there is no way to make them bigger like we used to have by linking them from Vendio to Ebay, why would we want to pay Vendio for something that is outdated & useless now. I am already seeing other people who use to use Vendio , scrap that idea and are just uploading right to Ebay with no linking to Vendio hosting. Customer service please respond thanks.

pkgeneralstore - note that neglus is talking specifically about the gallery image - the one at the top left of your listing before you view any of the details of the listing itself.

This will not effect the size of the images in the actual item description field, those will continue to be displayed at whatever size you have chosen to show them.

If you have images showing up in your item description area, where your Vendio hosted images appear, that aren't displaying the way you want them to - let us know of an example so we can help check your settings/etc to be sure there isn't something different causing this.

From your description here and in the other thread you posted to on this topic it sounds like your working on something completely different.

Regards,
Chris

Hello. Sorry but i am talking about gallery image, top left photos. I take the pictures at 1400 x 800, 1200x600 & had for a long time linked them in the self hosting section correctly in Ebay.

When you would then click that gallery image in the auction it would appear and be the same size that was uploaded to Ebay.

It does not appear the same size now. The 1200x600 images , Ebay re-sized them to 800x400 somehow. I am seeing other people with the same issue. In fact another Vendio user i watch their auctions on because it was critical for them to have large gallery image gave up on using Vendio it seems now because the images show up so small.

Just got a response from an Ebayer that the images now are actually linked to an eBay location instead of my vendio hosted location. If you click on your gallery image you will see a different file path to Ebay where as it use to have a Vendio path.

I noticed this too and I guess there's nothing we can do about it. I tried to "fix" it by uploading my 1200 pixel image directly through eBay and that was resized too. I guess I won't waste my time providing that extra large sized image any longer as the one in my listing is nearly the same size as the "enlarged" version in the gallery. Oh well.

There still needs to be an answer from Vendio as to why this is being allowed and what the workaround is to make it work like it use to.

The way I am seeing it now is that once a picture is uploaded to Ebay they own the rights to that image for the current & future use in their mind. I would think Vendio would start PUSHING watermarking services to everyone because of what Ebay is doing. Vendio please respond. Thanks

pk - this is not Vendio's fault - it's ebay's. People on the Powersellers discussion board were complaining about this - even using self hosted images. The only work around would be to not have a gallery image and put them embedded in your description.

I would think Vendio needs to be concerned as this has to deal with "rights of useage" & copyrighted protection.

There are 3 parties "myself, Vendio & Ebay" with all separate user agreements. Legally speaking how can Vendio allow Ebay to take "their work" and pretty much "COPY" it without permission?

I didn't give Ebay permission to copy Vendio trademarked rights or intellectual property of Vendio. There's also nothing on Ebay stating that they have this right.

All i am asking now is for Vendio to explain this and legally where they stand. Thats all.

Hello,

Unfortunately this forum is just for questions and answers as to how the tools function. Any legal issues or concerns you have should be addressed via email using the HELP link in your account.

Note that what eBay is doing currently with the gallery image is something they had done for years and have simply reverted back to this system - this isn't a brand new thing that just started now.

Regards,
Chris
