I got an error 240 again. I previously posted on the board that I had this error when listing a digital camera. Now I get it when listing a Game Boy Advance SP. What doesn't add up is that I listed one of these recently that didn't error out and I just copied that auction in Sales Manager and just changed the color of the console in the title. What's up? Could you please check my closed auction for the SP system and the errored auction in my pending list and see if you find a problem? Thanks.

Hello,

The specific error message that eBay is returning (viewable when doing an eBay preview through Vendio) is:

"It looks like you're listing an accessory for a video game system. Accessories for systems, including bundles that only include accessories, should be listed in one of the Video Games > System Accessories > categories. If you're listing a system that's bundled with accessories, please add them as "bundled items" in item specifics, or add the word "bundle" to your title. Don't add any accessories to the title or item specifics if those items are typically included with a system. For example, since systems usually come with a controller, don't add "controller" to your title, unless you have bundled an additional item. To complete your listing, please edit your item specifics, category, or title."

Please let us know should you continue to have trouble with this.

Regards,
Nathan

As I said before in my last post about the error 240 (about a month ago) is that I always do an eBay preview and I do not get an error message in the preview...it is when I launch the auction that it comes back with the error 240. I don't know which one you are looking at but I'm not listing an accessory...it is a system. Also, I said that I copied from my auction list the same title and description from another Game Boy Advance SP I had listed on the 9th of June and sold on the 13th....that one did not error out. I had NO problems whatsoever with that one! All I did for this auction is change the color of the console and the names of the game cartridges....everything else is the same including the category. Why would I get an error message for this one? I can't have this happen every time I list this type of item...I have several more SP systems to sell so I want to know what's causing the problem now.

Hello,

Unfortunately, eBay does not publish how/when they check for listing violations. Sometimes they check for some listing violations and sometimes they do not. In order to avoid this problem in the future, please follow the guidelines outlined in the eBay error message that I pasted into my first reply.

Regards,
Nathan

OK. I tried listing this auction from scratch with all the same info...it errored out. I added "Bundled Items" in item specifics...it errored out. I then changed the title a little by deleting the following: & Case + GBA I then replaced those words and symbols with the following: & Access It launched immediately!! So apparently my title was the issue. It doesn't look like Java code, so is there something that you see in that change that may have caused a communication problem from Vendio to eBay? Especially since I listed auctions this way before just recently with no error...I sure would like to know. Thanks!

Hello,

Unfortunately they don't usually spell out why they think it's javascript, you just trigger their automatic filter to catch it and stop it. The best verification you could do would be to try doing a test listing from eBay directly, using the exact same category and title to see if they displayed the same error message or not. It would only verify that the issue is something you'd run into regardless if you were going through a third party Vs eBay directly, but it would at least rule out it being anything to do with where your submitting it from.

Very rarely there may be a more descriptive error message from eBay directly when you try it that way, right at the end of the create listing process when you would be trying to submit the item (when the error appears.)

Regards,
Chris
