I have been away from home for several months and am in the process of relisting the 9000 items I ended back in February.

Prior to closing down my store, I added numbers to each title to help me locate my postcards via eBay's bulk reviser. I am finding that even though that number appears on the unsold item list and also in the relist confirmation, the number does not appear in the title of the newly launched item on eBay (it does appear on the title in the description part of the listing). The only way I can get that change to "stick" is to edit each item (even though I don't change anything). As you can imagine, this is very tedious and will take me forever to relist all of my items. Is there anything that can be done about this?

I am also running into site slow downs when I click on "edit" and then again when I click on "save".

Thanks for the help.

Hello,

I apologize, however I am not sure in exactly what way you are having trouble. Are you relisting through your eBay account or your Vendio account? What is one of the listing numbers that you relisted that had this problem, so that we can take a look?

Regards,
Nathan

I am relisting through Vendio (they are off of eBay as they were ended more than 90 days ago).

It happens on all of my unsolds ended in February or earlier. I will launch one without editing so you can see what I mean.

Also I am finding inconsistency in whether all of my images appear on the top part of the eBay listings (I usually provide two iamges/ listings to show front and back of postcard). Sometimes they all show, and sometimes just the first one shows.

This is the confirmation I get when I launch without editing.

And this is the way they look on ebay (no batch numbers preceding the title

I will revise that batch via eBay's editor tonight but will leave it like this for now so you can see what I mean.

Hello,

Thank you for the additional information. The known behavior when a listing is edited/revised through eBay directly is that the changes are not picked up at Vendio at all. However, it seems that your listings are showing revisions that you made to them through your eBay account within your Vendio account, which traditionally we have not seen and is unexpected. Could you please provide us with a listing number (or a couple) that has not yet been relisted, so that we can test the process that you are using and relist the item to eBay?

Regards,
Nathan

Well thank goodness for unexpected! (Actually I tested this before ending the listings to make sure information would carry through or all of my listings would be useless as I couldn't find the items when they sold. I used to file by eBay numbers but realized I had to change to batch numbers so I could end listings if I wanted to). PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DON'T LOSE MY CHANGES!

Here are couple that should behave this way (ended Feb 3 2013):
150526402206 112810 OUTER DRIVE FROM IRVING PARK RD CHICAGO IL POSTCARD (FP)
150526402196 112810 ENTRY BROOKFIELD ZOO VINTAGE CHICAGO IL POSTCARD 1940 (FP)
150526402197 112810 ANTIQUE NEW YEAR POSTCARD CHILDREN SNOWBALL FIGHT (FP)

My process for relaunching:
1.Search unsolds for batch number
2.Indicate I want to relist.
3.I get the error message in red that I will be relaunching as ineligible to relist
4. If I check them all and simply relaunch, I lose the batch number in the title (as shown in screen captures above). The batch number does appear in the title in the description however.
5. If I edit each one individually (Just clicking on edit and save will work) and then launch them, all the batch numbers do appear properly in the title
6. I then search the batch number again in my unsolds and archive so I don't get duplicates.

Have to leave for a bit now. Thanks for looking into this.

Hello,

Thank you for the detailed information. I was able to duplicate this by relisting your closed listing "150526402206". In this test the number did not transfer over to the title on the active eBay listing, but it did transfer to the eBay description and to the title from within your Vendio account. We are scratching our heads here a bit as it shouldn't have been possible to get the number into the title in the first place (without having had the number in the title when the listing was launched to eBay through Vendio). In any case, we see two courses of action here. I'm hoping the second one will be a viable option for you:

1. Edit the listings as you relist them to get the number showing in the title of the active eBay listing.

Or

2. Since the numbers are showing in the titles within your Vendio account, and it sounds like the process that you follow only requires those numbers to show in the titles from within your Vendio account, would it be a problem for the numbers not to show in the titles of the active eBay listings? From my understanding of your process it sounds like you should be able to follow it for listings where the number shows in the title in Vendio, but not in the title on eBay (which seems to be what happens when you relist the listings without editing them first). Also, the number does show in the eBay listing description so you should be able to search the listings by the numbers in order to identify them from within eBay as well.

Regards,
Nathan

Thanks! I should have told you that I only noticed this behavior when listing items that were more than 90 days old (launching from copy instead of relisting). I was able to get the batch number in the titles when I relisted within 90 days.

I need the batch number in the title because I ship from a PayPal report. I print small packing slips and envelopes from that report and pull my postcards from the slips.

I am kind of undecided how to proceed. I may just relaunch and bulk edit in eBay (I have been adding condition and free shipping and 1 day handling time as long as I was editing anyway). On the other hand, it may be best to just get them right once and for all (until eBay makes more changes anyway). I know I have to really edit my oldest listings because they have payment instructions about cash checks and money orders that were deleted long ago from the eBay version but remain on the copy of the original listing.

I appreciate your looking into it.

Can you figure out why sometimes I only get one image to upload to eBay's previews at the top of the listing and sometimes all of them upload?

Hello,

For the listings that are only showing one image in the eBay preview section I am guessing that this is for older listings, correct? We didn't support more than one image in this section for some time, and released support for multiple images in this section relatively recently (I don't remember when exactly but probably within the last 6 months or so). It is likely the older listings from before we released this change that are having the problem.

Nathan

They are older listings. I think there must be some delay in uploading the other images because now when I check back, I can't see any that don't have more than one image. That's good to know because I think a lot of people are doing eBay Mobile now and don't necessarily look at the description any more.

Hello,

That makes perfect sense. In order for the images to show in that section Vendio's system has to send the images to eBay, and then once eBay has acknowledged that they have them Vendio's system then has to send another call to eBay's system to tell eBay to show the images in that section. There can sometimes be a delay so that this process isn't immediate. For the older listings from before we released support for this, there's probably more information for the systems to communicate with each other. It is likely that for the newer listings the first part of the process (sending the images to eBay's system) has already been done and can be skipped for the relists.

Regards,
Nathan
