For some reason I can't seem to attach pictures or even launch an auction from work. I have tried I.E., Netscape and Opera browsers and none of them work. Could the problem be the firewall? When I try to launch I get a message "Connection closed by remote server". Launching auctions are a breeze at home...no problem at all. This just happens on my work computer. I would really like to find a solution to this problem. Thanks.

Hi Ewora,
Have you been able to launch from work before? It is possible that the work firewall is inhibiting your ability to launch from work.

No I have never been able to launch from work. I decided I'd rather e-bay than work and quit to do it full time and work from home. Work just recently called and begged for me to come back and said I could ebay from here if I would just answer the phones. Problem is I can't launch from here. I do know we have a firewall but why would that effect attaching pictures and launching auctions?

Hi Ewora,
Is the "Connection closed by remote server" the only error that you get, or do you get other error messages too?

I also get the page that pops up and says..."The page cannot be displayed

I wanted to bump this up but also ask another question. I was creating some listings last night from home (it works there) and for some odd reason an extra picture keeps attaching itself to the pictures I attach. I preview the auction before launching and it isn't there but if I go into my auctions in pending there the extra picture is attached to my auction. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?
Please address the not being able to launch or attach photos from work question too. Thanks. Amy

Hi Amy,
Is the image that keeps attaching itself the broken one, or a different one? What steps do you take when you are attaching images, are you hitting "Attach Image" more than once, the back button on your browser, the refresh button?
Regarding your inability to launch from work, I would suggest if you have access to another computer at work to try test launching an auction to see if there is indeed a firewall block. If it works, the problem is most likely with your terminal, in which case you may want to contact your work's IT department to get it fixed.

I know that you have bigger fish to fry than my little problem right now. But just wanted you to know that I don't think it is a firewall problem. I disabled the firewall and my auctions were getting the same message. Do you have a solution? I still have the picture problem too?

Hi Ewora,
Have you tried from a different terminal yet at work? If not please do so and let me know of the outcome. And if you know the name of the image that is appearing on all your listings, please let me know that as well.

We are a small business. I'm here alone most of the day. We've only two computer and neither one allows auction launching or picture attaching. I can do all the auction management processing though.
As far as attaching pictures...I haven't been doing anything different than I've been doing all year. It is for some reason adding the first picture in my image lineup to whatever I've already attached. My temporary solution to that problem is to delete the picture so that instead of a Richard Simmons Diet cookbook coming up in my auction I'll just get the little red square. I would like to find a better solution as I can't keep deleting the first picture in line.
Thanks. Amy

Hi Amy,
I am unable to replicate the image problem that you are having. You may want to clear out your browser cache and your stored AW cookies -- it looks like you may have a bad cookie somewhere that keeps calling up your old Richard Simmons image every time you try to create a new listing. If this does not help please let me know.
Regarding your launch problems, it looks like it may be something with your network as both computers are affected. Unfortunately there isn't anything else we can do on our end, except advise you to consult with your IT person to see what can be done so that you can launch from your work computers.
Good luck!
