I have seen some images in auctions that are protected from copying and hope someone knows how to do this. If you right click on a photo usually you have the option of saving as a photo. On some, which I have wanted to copy, I right click and a window pops up that tells me this photo can't be copied. Any help is appreciated either here or email at [email protected]

Thanks

Cliff

I wondered how they put that protection on the pics as well since I don't want to write something over my pics saying they are mine to keep people from using the URL because it would cover the item in the pic and then what's the use of having a picture that has grafitti on it? Having a protection to keep people from saving or copying the URL would work better so we won't have people using our AW URL and getting billed pic fees and don't have to put grafitti on our pics saying it belongs to us. If someone knows how to put this protection on a pic, please share here. Thanks

It's done with a java script routine. The actual code has been published a couple times recently in threads on the Ebay Outlook. A little searching should be able to bring them up. Be aware though, Ebay prohibits the use of Java in auctions. This is mainly to protect against interfering with their system by someone who doesn't know what they are doing with Java. Although I don't think they vigoursly enforce this rule if there are no problems, it's still a hammer they have hanging over your head and an opportunity for a disgruntled competitor, customer or picture thief to turn you in and cause you trouble. I would send Ebay a copy of the script and get their permission to use it before actually placing it in an auction.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.
