I'm trying to relist from closed auctions, but your archive icon has replaced the delete icon. How do I delete an auction after I relist it? I use delete to keep from relisting an auction twice. Thanks for your reply in advance.

Hi Beman,

The Archive button has 'replaced' the Delete one. Instead of permanently delete a listing you have now the ability to archive it, and use it for future reference.
Relisting an item usually is automatically deleted after successfull relist, so you do not need to delete it manually. If the item was already relisted, then it is not deleted from closed section, but you can select it and archive it.

Thanks for your reply. The delete button was handy as items are not removed from my closed auctions until the relist. If the relist is several days away, then I could relist accidentally. I suppose I'll have to archive, and then go to the archives and delete which makes more work for me.

Perhaps there will be others who want the delete button returned. I certainly do want the delete button returned if that is possible.

I'd like to see the Delete button brought back as well. Since 99% of my items are things I only have one copy of, I have no reason to archive them once they're sold. I really don't even understand the purpose of archiving finished auctions into a spreadsheet. On the rare occasion I do need to relist something that hasn't closed recently, I get it from Inventory. What does the Archive do that the Inventory doesn't?

I agree!!! Please bring back the Delete button. I just archived several auctions and they did not go into the spreadsheet. They must be in outerspace somewhere!

I would like the delete button back also but I do like the archive button also. After I ship an item I can archive it. I ship internationally and it can take up to 6 weeks to get delivered. If there are any insurance claims I can get the info out of the archive and not have to keep it stored in my closed auctions until item is received. This saves quite a bit of space in my closed auctions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ultimato,

The Archive button allows you to export data from your closed listings offline, to an excel spreadsheet. It helps to keep your post sale section neater.

Millertwos -- when you archived your items, did you download the spreadsheet with a start date that is before the dates of your launched auctions?

Hello everybody,

I just wanted to make clear that the Archive button is effectively the same as the Delete button - if you archive your items, they will be removed from your closed section just as if you deleted them. There is no need to go into the archives and delete anything, but the data will be there if you decide that you need it.

Thanks,

Diana

Here is my problem with your response. I have auctions in my closed section that I was tracking. I was not the winning bidder therefore I have no reason to archive them. I do not want them cluttering up my records.

Hello,

Don't worry, you wont archive anything that doesn't belong to you. You will get the following message :

"Warning: The following item(s) are tracked and will be deleted, not archived."

was there an announcement on this new feature ? I could not find one until i went to use delete just now...

why can't there be delete and archive?....

i also have one time items - a few hundred per week... when i relist- i right away delete for 2 reasons: not to have to worry that aw definitely deleted it once it goes live onto ebay (which might not be for another week) and i might not do all my relists at one sitting and have to mentally remember which i did already or not.... don't want duplicate auctions for items i only have one of -also my relists might be scheduled out not for a week or more and then i work on another batch for another date.. complicates everything

and with 200 auctions per week- once i archive all my closed auctions to get them out of my closed panel for i don't want a million auctions sitting there - making pages and pages.... my archive file will be zillions of pages....and auction watch has to store all that?

PLEASE bring back the delete button. It was very useful. I do not have the time to write all the reasons why but the delete button is a necessity. Is it not possible to have both delete and archive?

I don't understand why you, AW, would want to archive auctions that people just want deleted and out of the system. I don't use any post sales tools and once an auction is sold, I simply delete from the closed list and don't need it anywhere else. I just use the close list to keep track of what I want relisted. To me, simply deleting what I don't want would be the best instead of having it archived.
Thanks.

Add my vote to bringing back the "DELETE" button. All the reasons listed above apply. This feature was very helpful for those of us runiing hundreds of different items every week. Mike

add my vote for bring back the "much necessary" delete button. It just does not make sense to archieve anything that we "want to delete", why take up unnecessary bandwidth space?

Hi, Thank you very much for the archive feature. I used to manually put everything in a spreadsheet so I knew if I was making money. And by sorting my columns I could tell which was my best sellers and inventory count on many items. BUT.....there are too many fields. There is a lot of information that I do not need to archive and takes up too much space! I have looked at basic and complete. I would appreciate a custom archive that lets us choose the fields in our preferences that need to be archived. And finally, the delete button still might be helpful...(ps: Sonya, You deserve a raise! Keep up the good work..)...Thanks..Judy of WCP

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your feedback on the delete button, I will make sure it is passed on to Product Development.

Judy -- thank you for your suggestion about choosing custom fields, I will make sure that is passed on as well.

Hi Judy,

I would like to add to my post that when you download your listings, you can eliminate the columns you don't need in Excel for easier viewing. There are two different formats you can download in (basic or complete -- which I see you have already discovered), simply choose the one that contains the fields you are looking for and then when you open the archive in Excel, you can eliminate the columns for the fields you don't need.

If you click on "Format Descriptions" on the Archive page, you can see what is included in Basic and Complete.

Just got back into town to read your response to the "delete" button question. I, too, don't understand the need to archive auctions that I don't want, but I'll just use the archive button as the "delete" button as instructed. Thanks for your response.
