As you may already know, rate calculations for USPS priority mail packages in the 1-5 pound range changed on June 30th. The new rates are now determined in part by the distance the shipment must travel. You can review the new zoned rates by visiting the following link:
AuctionWatch released new functionality this week that allows you to use the Post Sale Management Checkout system to automatically calculate the zoned shipping rates in real time, as each buyer checks out. To take advantage of this enhancement, please follow the steps below.
1) Select “USPS Priority (calculated)” as a shipping option for each item you list.
2) Enter the weight of each item in the item listing form. If the item is already listed at a venue, you can edit the shipping options in the WBN before it is sent to your buyer. Simply wait for the item to close, and then go to the fulfillment checklist by clicking on the numeric square keys to the right of the item. Click on the ‘edit’ link in Step 1 WBN actions, add the item weight, and select the “USPS Priority (calculated)” shipping option.
3) Go to My Account, Global Preferences and check the following:
a. Make sure the “Ship Items from zip code” address is represented correctly (default = the zip code on file with your AuctionWatch account)
b. Determine the mark-up (if any) you would like to apply to calculated items (default = no markup)
c. Choose a calculation preference for combined items (default = calculate the total weight, as if items will be shipped in one package)
Support for entering the weight into new listings will be available in Sales Manager Pro early next week. Please note that the package dimensions are NOT necessary for calculation of the USPS zoned priority mail rates. Dimensions are included for your reference, and will be useful for other enhancements we release in the future. We hope you enjoy this enhancement.
Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.
Hi Diana, with all due respect for the work that AW has put into this, I still see the need for one more email. The buyer still has to let the seller know where they live. So if that is the case I believe all of the new formats that you have put in your post will require an awful lot of extra work. I don't see the advantages as outlined in your post. It actually looks like more work to me. I just check one of the bottom shipping option boxes and put in the following. "TBA ON RECEIPT OF ZIP CODE". I've had buyers respond already with their zip code with no further prompting. I also follow up with basically the same info in my WBN, so it seems to be working. It seems much simpler to me. Please advise your thoughts on this. Thanks, Steve

Hi cyberageart - I tried to click a shipping option and enter "TBA Upon receipt of Zip Code" but it wouldn't advance until I put an amount in - are you able to bypass this?
Also - to AW - are you going to add this "calculated" feature for parcel post?
Hi,you have to leave the 0.00 in the box next to the TBA. Otherwise it will kick back. I have been using this method for a few years now for items that were heavier than 5 lbs. I never have had any problems. I always get a response from the buyer with their zip code. I have put the "TBA on receipt of zip code" in as a default in the box so I don't have to enter it each time. Just have to check the small box next to it. One other default I put in is the next box. There I put in "insurance optional". I use that for items that are not breakable, but I do put in the insurance amount to let them know the cost so they can make a decision on whether to take the insurance or not. Important though to state in your text that you will not be liable for loss if they don't take the insurance. Hope this helps. Steve

I just have one question... Why don't I see “USPS Priority (calculated)” as a shipping option anywhere? Only on the global preferences page does it appear - when I'm listing an item or editing the WBN of an already sold item, I don't see it. Is it not functional yet?
