When you mark "payment received" is the buyer notified of this?

Hi Imabride2b,

Unfortunately AW does not provide any means to inform your buyer that payment has been received. However, the shipping notification mail (which is sent by the seller when the item is shipped) also contains some wording about payment being received, so you may consider using this notification for shipping and payment as well.
