Hello Again
I and others have requested this many times but I am going to try one more time.
Please give us more insurance options. There are some items I just don't feel good about shipping without insurance but I don't have the option to automatically add the insurance. I have even found myself paying the insurance on antique breakable where the customer didn't pay it.
I feel sure that the first person who gets a broken item that did not insure it is going to say it was my packing job or something and want a refund. I don't want a negative feedback over this either?
Also can't we have a calculated parcel post rate. I think the new rates are slowing the ebay sells enough that we should be able to offer that too.
And last but not least can we add a button that says insurance is already add to the figure. When I do first class on some jewelry type items - I add it in. I say it in my description that first class is SHI but the winner still adds it about half the time. I got tried of going back and seeing who paid and who did??? Who I need to put $1.30 in there package etc so I just quit doing it so now I feel like I cheating them but they are the one who can't read. AW here to help us save time-isn't it???? Not piss our customers off???
All we need is 3 little things:
1 The option to add calculated insurance to the shipping and inform the customer it's added.
2 A button (which can be activated at the time of listing) which states insurance is already included on uncalculated items.
3 Parcel Post calculating?
Thanks

Hi Ladyjewels2000,

We offer USPS Priority calculated rates, as well as 3 different insurance carrier rates (USPS, FedEx and UPS) including a customizable insurance rate. You can set these up in Global Preferences. I will log your suggestions for Product Development.

Sonya

Hi
I must have missed the parcel post calculator.
You may have missed my point on the insurance? I know it is calculated for them but there is not a way to make them accept it?? Why can't I just click a button on the listing page saying that insurance is to BE added or not - but my option.
In some cases I don't mind there not using it. My rule of thumb before was if it is over $20.00 or breakable it must be covered. Now I can not do that???
Don't you see why this is a problem???
Thanks

Hello,

Right now it is set up so that if they want to accept your insurance, they can check off the box to have it. What you would like is to have it forced to be added to transactions, correct? I just want to make sure, I will log a suggestion for you.

Sonya

I just update my preference and color me blind but I don't see a calculated parcel post???
Also I see where I could just add the insurance amount (under $50.00 only) mark up or other amounts added but then I would have added to everything that is calculated.
Saying it is "forced" makes it sounds like a bad thing. I just don't want to ship valuable items with no coverage??? I just feel like it should be my option - so that what I want. The option to force them to pay insurance!!! lol And a little box that will say Don't add the insurance on this auction - it's already added.

Thanks

Hello,

It shows up as USPS Priority (calculated) in the shipping drop down. I see that you have it set up correctly so it should show up. That is the only calculated shipping that we have at this time.

Regarding insurance -- what shows up when you have selected that you offer insurance, is a box your winners can check preceding the statement "I offer insurance". If they don't want it they don't have to check it, if they do want it, then they will have to check it. Is this what you want, or do you want something different?

Sonya

It appears that ladyjewels is asking for what many of us have asked for since the insurance feature was launched -- the ability to make insurance optional or mandatory at OUR discretion, not the customer's. Currently, as Sonya explained, the buyer can choose whether they want insurance or not, but the seller cannot force them to take insurance through the insurance option.

For ladyjewels: You can use the two customizable boxes under the shipping options for a shipping plus insurance amount. The way I do it is state in my auction that shipping will be, for instance, $3 media mail plus actual insurance (this gets around the problem of not knowing how much insurance will be needed until the auction ends). Then in the customizable box I put USPS Media Mail Insured and put an estimate in the amount box. For instance, if I think the item will sell for $75, I'll put $5.20 in the box ($3 plus $2.20 insurance). If I'm wrong, I adjust the amount before sending out my WBN. If I'm right, I just send it out.

As you can see, this takes some extra work, which would be eliminated if the insurance option were set up for the seller, rather than the buyer, to decide whether insurance will be charged.

Thanks abqsales for posting. I know there are many others who feel as we do.
I don't mind a little extra work so maybe I'll try that until we can talk AW into adding these features.

Also Sonya if you ship coast to coast and the item weights 35 lbs. priority is double the rate of parcel post. So can we have a parcel post calculator too?
