I typically use 3 - 7 photos with each auction. How do I know which photo will be in the gallery? Can I choose or is it cut and dried?

There is an option on the preferences page where you can choose which picture the gallery image inserts. For example - 1st image or Ebay Gallery.

So, yes, you can choose which goes in.

Thanks, ice! Is this on a gallery preference page, or are you talking about the other preferences we've chosen already?

It's on the gallery preferences page towards the bottom.

Also, I've been playing around with it a bit and if you use your custom listing box and insert the html for the gallery in there your gallery display will come up right at the bottom of the description box and before the standard section. This way it catches their eye before they scroll to the bottom.

I think I'll go in tomorrow and replace them all. Look at 4200161901 and you'll see what I mean.

Ice: that is a *fabulous* idea! Thanks so much! I looked at your auction and like how that works.

Is there any downside that you can think of, with putting all the pictures ahead of the standard other stuff? Offhand I can't think of anything negative.

I also like your selection of items for sale; it's very similar to mine, with all those neat old books and ephemera. What do you think you'll do about old books auctions when the books category is totally revamped on Ebay? I'm feeling a bit disheartened over it and I'm staring at a roomful of old books!!!!

Hello Roadsmith,

Actually, I think there is an upside to putting the gallery there as it sits right on top of the checkout information - hopefully, more people will now read it and use it.

As to the books categories, I don't see this as a problem. From what I read, it just means I will have to research a little more to tighten up my item specifics. If you don't use the pre-filled you can still list the books as you always have. Or did I miss something? I am not a fan of pre-filled for antique and vintage books. I like my customers to see the actual book so they know exactly what they're getting.

Vendio already does a great job with supporting item specifics so it shouldn't be much of a transition problem.

Thanks for the nice compliment Prof2!

Actually, most of it is very basic html. I've been teaching myself a little at a time.
I create templates for the different categories and then use them when I list. Email me through Ebay and include an item number of yours and your email address and I'll look at what you're doing. I'll see if I can't help you out.

Ice: It's the older books I'm most concerned about, with Ebay's changes. I do believe buyers of these older books used to browse in categories; I'm hoping they will find my books. In the meantime, I've gone to the Ebay main book category page and copied it for future reference, before they change it. I think I'll be wanting to use those sub-categories as keywords in my descriptions.

Leaving town for four days now, but I'll read all my messages upon returning. I appreciate your input here! Adele
