I just received this email and it has my Vendio Account name in the title...is it a scam or real?

This is a notification message to inform that your eBay authorization
token stored at Vendio will expire soon.

Your eBay authorization token stored at Vendio expires on:
Mon, April 04, 21:28:42.

If the token expires, Vendio will no longer be able to do *any* action at
eBay on your behalf (example: launching your listings from Vendio to eBay or
inserting your Vendio Gallery in listings will no longer be possible). To
prevent this from happening, please follow these simple steps:

- Log on to Vendio site at Vendio.com;
- Click the My Account link at the top right;
- Click to the Auction Site Accounts page link at right;
- Click the 'Edit' link next to the 'eBay / eBay Motors';
- Click the 'Go to eBay Signin' button;
- Log on to eBay;
- Click the 'Agree and Continue' button;
- You will return to Vendio, confirming that your token has been updated;

On the off chance someone attempts to replicate one or more Vendio pages,
you may desire to surf the Vendio site a while to ensure your content
appears as you would normally see it (the individual specific information
that would be very difficult to replicate) prior to going to the eBay
account update pages.

Below are detailed the actions that will *no* longer be possible if your
eBay authorization token expires at Vendio:

- launching your items to eBay or eBay Motors;
- updating or closing your eBay or eBay Motors items at Vendio;
- sending feedback for your Vendio items at eBay or eBay Motors;
- refreshing and updating your Vendio Gallery items;
- inserting Vendio Gallery in your eBay listings;

To prevent this, please follow the steps above to update your authorization
token.

Q. How do I know that this email is legitimate and that my information is
safe?
A. You can tell that this email is legitimate because there is no link in
this email. If the purpose of this email was to gather your
information, there would be a login link leading to a false website
in the email. We are asking you to go directly to your account on
Vendio and log in as you normally would.

Thank you!

Your Vendio Team

I got the same email today and almost deleted it presuming it was a scam. What exactly is an eBay authorization "token"? I have been using Vendio (formerly Auctionwatch) for years and have never had to update anything before. Is this something new and what does it mean? Please let us know or issue an Announcement to avoid all this confusion. Thankyou

Hello,

The email is real, and your action is required.

The token is what links your eBay account to your Vendio account and allows us to launch listings and collect information for you. It is necessary for us to have a current token on file in order to provide you with uninterrupted service.

Thanks,

-Radu

I have been on Vendio (Auction Watch) for years also and have never had to have a token update. What is this and why is this necessary all of a sudden?

We integrated these a year or so ago to help users keep their information up to date. The re-update emails haven't been seen before because we're just now coming to that annual period. So this is first you'll see of these. And you won't see them again for another year.

If you ever have doubts about authenticity of your emails from us or eBay, PLEASE write their or our customer service.
Best Regards,

DarinCS

Why do you always have to make things more difficult for your customers?

Hello jtomp,

Thanks for writing us with your questions. Like other third party listing services using the eBay API system, we had to start using eBay's new Token authorization system as they no longer wanted their customers storing their actual username and passwords at outside locations.

We simply had to make this system work/happen from the Vendio side to both comply with the eBay rules as well as do everything possible to keep our own users security in mind.

Our apologies for any inconveniences that may cause.

Regards,
Christopher

I haven't received one of these messages. Should I have -- or are they being sent out on some schedule?

Hello,

When your token is about to expire we'll send you an email and will also post a warning in your Sales Manager control panel. All you need to do is go to My Account -> Auction Site Accounts and reenter the eBay ID information. Tokens expire every 12 - 18 months.

Thanks,

Diana
