Hi,
I am confused about this insurance thing. I did not get an error message but I am afraid it will error on launch tonight so I want to check to see if I have things set correctly. I have my preferences set to use calculated shipping and use carrier rates for insurance. I also have selected to specify shipping costs for ebay checkout. I have insurance as optional. Can I leave my preference to use carrier calculated rates or do I have to put in 1.30 for the insurance? And what will happen if the item is more than $50 and the insurance cost goes higher than 1.30? What if I supply fixed rates instead? Please advise asap. Thanks.

Hello,

If you set eBay checkout to use calculated shipping, optional insurance is also computed automatically.

With fixed shipping rates, you will need to enter a fixed cost for insurance, but only if you also set eBay checkout.

Thanks for your reply but here's another question on the same matter. My preferences at ebay are set to not use ebay checkout. At vendio, I have selected use ebay checkout redirect and I am specifying shipping costs for ebay checkout. I have insurance set to optional and am using calculated shipping and carrier rates for insurance. My question is this.....do I need to go to ebay's site and change my preference to use ebay checkout?

Hello,

I am not positive on this but I believe it will launch anyway, with eBay checkout enabled for that auction -- unfortunately I don't know what happens if you turn eBay checkout off in eBay but you enable it in Vendio and use redirect. You might want to enable it in eBay if you are filling it out in your Vendio account and using redirect.

Regards,

Sonya

Until all the changes of last week, I had ebay checkout disabled at the ebay site and did not specify the shipping costs for ebay but I was using the checkout redirect and everything seemed to be working fine. I'm going to launch auctions for the first time since the changes and I want to make sure everything is set correctly so I have no bad surprises tomorrow morning. I have enabled ebay checkout at the ebay site as you recommended and will keep my fingers crossed. Thank you.
