Hi gang,

I have a question for all of you. eBay allows you to pay to make your listings Bold, or add a Highlight, or a Border, or a Gallery picture, or a Subtitle.

When (if) you talk about all those things as a group, what do you call them?

No fair peeking at what we're calling them now, or what eBay calls them. We want to know what name YOU use for them.

Post your answer here (but no peeking at what others have said until you post your own!) or email it to [email protected].

Thanks for your help!
Drew

Ideally they are called listing enhancements.

Opportunistically, they are income generators for the auction site and margin eliminators for the seller.

I would call them Enhancements.

If they were grouped together I would call them the "Total Package"
i.e. Enhancements or
i.e. Total Package Enhancements.

Sucker bait.

Hey Drew, I'm really sorry you guys didn't take my suggestion to make the "Do It" button bigger and pulsing so that it is easy for over-50 eyes to find. We're not all young and gorgeous like you-all there in San Bruno, y'know.

Lesson of the day: If you want the right kind of answer you have to ask the right kind of question!

25 Clever Points to jtomp, and the rest of you are just piling on. So now let me ask this another way.

If it were your job to put a title above a page of these eBay options, and you wanted to draw on your experience of what people called them in the seller community so that sellers would easily recognize them, what name would be most familiar to you?

fluffy t.w.c.: Which "Do It" button are you referring to?

I call it the "Do It" button because it usually sits next to the "Don't Do It" button.

Like on this very page I'm typing, there's a Post Reply button and a Clear Fields button. Do It/Don't Do It for any value of "It". Do It is generally the default so it should be easy to find. Unless, of course, you're working in a missile silo and Do It will result in the destruction of Minsk, Pinsk and Vladivostok.

The buttons on this page are large enough to see but on the Gallery design pages they are both too small and poorly placed.

My major gripe is when designers make them not much larger than a greater-than symbol in a box. Not all of us are capable of precise mousing. In fact, given that past threads in the eBay Outlook have shown the overwhelming number of active Community posters to be in their Fabulous Fifties or beyond, and that we have had long threads there in the past about text readability, I'm guessing this is a concern shared by many Vendions.

Anyway, a topic for another forum, I'm sure.

So far I'm seeing:
- [Listing] Enhancements
- [Listing] Upgrades
- Auction Accessories
amid the funny answers. Any other terms that should be on our list?

Text size and readability are definitely concerns for us. We try to make stuff easier to read whenever we have the chance, but we probably don't always manage to make it big enough. I'll start a new thread on that topic.

It seems to me that eBay usually calls them "Listing Upgrades." I don't know the percentages (you would know that better than I do), but I expect that the overwhelming majority of your listings are on eBay.

When in Rome, do as the Romans.

Listing upgrades would also be understood by me.

Auction accessories I don't "get."

I already posted AUCTION ACCESSORIES, so why not combine the two or three choices given and we now have another called: LISTING ACCESSORIES
