I applied for a Compubank account in July. They sent me forms to fill out which I returned with my $1000 deposit. I called them weekly afterward and each time they claimed they never received it. I believed that it was lost in the mail. But then my check cleared my account and is clearly stamped on the back 'Compubank.' I have since called them weekly and each time I am promised that they will refund the money but no one gets back to me. I emailed their customer service, their fraud department, faxed copies of the check, etc. Can anyone get me the number for the Texas Banking Commission and any other agency I should be reporting this to?
Thank you. http://www.ygoodman.com [email protected]

An update on my Compubank situation: I began emailing them daily to every email address on their site, which includes their fraud dept, customer service, corporate accounts, public relations, etc. Each day I said "another day with no explanation for your theft of my money so I posted the info on another public forum and complained to the OCC. On Friday I will be complaining to your state attorney general. I have already spoken to a reporter for Bankrate (an Internet banking publication). At least you can't pretend you didnt know about this."
Tonight I finally got a response. It turns out they deposited my check to another company with a similar name. Now that the mistake was discovered, they are sending me a check for the money. Since the check was marked 'initial deposit' and accompanied the forms I needed to open an account, that's a pretty dumb mistake to make. But it wasn't the mistake I was angry about, it was the complete lack of responsibility. At least five people promised over the phone to investigate, at least two promised a check was on the way three weeks ago. No one ever called me back or gave any explanation until tonight, despite my weekly calls and daily emails. I suggested that they run an employee seminar on customer service. http://www.ygoodman.com [email protected]

Getting your money back doesn't always fix things. It sounds as if customer service were on top of things, a letter would accompany that check. And sorry to hear they put you through so much grief. $1000 is much to worry about! Keep us updated!

The check arrived and a letter of apology. Compubank is rated #1 in Internet banking. If this is an example of how #1 operates, I hate to think of how #2 and down operate. http://www.ygoodman.com [email protected]

Compubank is rated #1 by Smart Money. Of course that was 3 years ago when there were only a few online banks. Gomez.com is the best source for company ratings. They list Security First Network Bank as #1. Compubank is listed as #10. Gomez also has excellent customer reviews of Compubank and all of the banks. Check it out. You are not alone!
