Pay Pal's Fraud Protection. Is it all it's cracked up to be?

I have filed a claim with PayPal (which they say they never received, I find that hard to believe since I filed mine along with another person's on the very same day) over 3 months ago.

I followed their instructions to the letter and thus far, the results have been far less than satisfactory.

Does anyone else out there know anything about PayPal and their "fraud protection"?

I'm getting the feeling that they are going to try and duck out of paying the claim.

It's very frustrating and I'm being left with very few options, better business bureau, etc.

For a complete run down of this, check out the page on my website;

About the only thing Paypal fraud protection is good for is to gain Paypal some additional money off the float of the accounts they freeze when someone tries to use their "protection".

I think you'd get better protection from people name Vinnie or Guido on the street.

Paypal is only out to protect themselves. When buyers get scammed, all PP does is delay until the buyer can no longer charge it back. If the buyer does charge it back, they freeze the seller's account while allowing it to continue receiving payments so they can recover their money from other innocent buyers. This is a company out of control and badly in need of regulation (and a few lawsuits). Feel free to link to the warning page I show all my customers, which is how I went from 8-10 PP payments a week to 1 in the last two weeks.

I have similar bad experience from PayPAl. No replies, no telephone to contact them, no service, just looking after themselves. They really found a way to get their hand in your pocket.

We loose out. Keep fighting guys.

One day we get the poiticials to react.

They withdrew over $900 from my account without waiting for my email. I sent them all the proof they asked for to qualify for the Fraud Protection Policy, and they did not responded in over three weeks.
PayPal told me on the phone that they receive too many fraud cases that they don't answer emails. If you want to get answers, call their customer service, ask for a supervisor, and tell them the situation.

YES, DEFINITELY!! I will gladly send anyone that asks the email threads on this between them and myself. They stole funds from our account TWICE!! They are NOT fraud protected, that is BS!! The latest problem, was from FIVE MONTHS ago!! They wait till now, to tell us that this x-action was fraudulent on the part of our customer, then STEAL funds from our account to cover their as*es!! CROOKS. We have filed fraud charges against them, and one FBI theft report SO FAR, and I will file another today. I encourage ALL OF YOU HERE to go to http://www.ifccfbi.gov/default.asp which is the FBI's internet fraud website and file a report!! My email address is below, so any of you please contact me for more info, and PLEASE ADD ME TO ANY LAWSUITS THAT YOU CAN!!

What is their phone number??
I've sent four e-mail this morning so far with no results. Someone is raiding my account - over $1800 so far with no end in sight. Someone has changed my e-mail address and my password so I can't even access the account now. Any ideas?

dmettam: If they are charging your credit card, notify your credit card company. If they are taking it out of your bank account, go immediately to your bank and file a fraud affidavit. If they are taking it out of your existing Paypal balance, no one can help you but Paypal and your attorney.

I haven't read anyone else talking about this, but I find it ridiculous that damon tells everyone to email HIM! I mean, it's like he's admitting that people won't get an answer from paypal anytime soon unless they email him!

And what about the other 90% of people that don't know damon exists and are forced to wait 2-6 months (that is how long it took paypal to respond to me for two cases on my account) for a response?

That's funny. I emailed Damon and got no response so far. I guess you have to post problems on the message boards to get results.

Hi acchan,

You are more than welcome to contact me again. Particular cases are forwarded off to the appropriate department and I would like to make sure that it was followed-up on.

Follow ups are a joke. Period. I've wrote several emails and keep getting jerked around. I do believe Paypal drags it out intentionally to avoid any chance of having any reimbursement made.

You can bet your bottom dollar, when I get ready to get a business account, it WON'T be with Paypal. NO ONE should have to file a complaint within a 30 day end of auction date to be covered. That is stupid and bad business for EVERYONE BUT paypal.

Hi escandyo,

It is hard for me to follow-up on your case without having access to your records. I would be able to provide you with more information with this, but I am unable to do so without them.

My email address is [email protected].

Although I did get PayPal to reverse the fraudulent transactions from my credit card and bank accounts, I still haven't received the reimbursement for the stop payment fees they promised to send "immediately." To get any response at all it appears you need to call Elizabeth Alejo at PayPal. Her number is 650-251-1127.

I also have the same problem.
My case is someone transfer all the blance on my account $8??? m Jan 24 after that they close my account. I already sent more 150 e-mails to paypal. And sent 1 mail in letter on Jan 25, and more than 70 phone call. Czn't get the money back untill today.

All the customer service said they will get me back within 7 days ,48hr, 24 hrs... but no reply at all..... untill Feb 2?

On Feb 2? They sent me an e-mail with the " Affidavit of unauthorized account use " I fax it back to them within 3 days after I received the from. And sent an e-mail to them. In the e-mail I told them I already fax it out please let me know have you received it or not.

After this e-mail I keep calling their coustomer service ask for update. But no one can give me an answer. For a month..... that really crazy...

On Mar 2? finally I received an e-mail from paypal they said I missed something on the from ask me to send them again. I fax them on the same day. To make sure they received my fax I keep going to fax them and send e-mail to Elizabth every day.. but still haven't get an feedback.....

SOemthing I really don't understand.. is it really hard to call or e-mail the coustomer? Why the customer phone line can't answer the question? Does it really need a month to check the fax?

I want to post my case to all the froum have topic about paypal can anyone post a list for me..

Already three month I really don't know when can I get the money back......
