I have been registered at Amazon for a long time but haven't listed there in a while. Was wondering how the sales were.
I sell mostly old linen, antiques and colletibles.

>>I sell mostly old linen, antiques and colletibles.>>
Book sales on Marketplace are very good; however, collectibles in the Auction and Z-shops are very slow right now.
I am listing a lot of collectibles on Amazon Z-shops, positioning for the christmas rush (Which I Hope comes).
My best sales for collectibles right now are coming from YAHOO - if I start 9.55, 5.00, 3, 2, or .99. Unfortunately some items are going for lowest bid, but some are going higher.
I list First on YAHOO (maybe twice) and then move it over to Amazon Z-SHOP if it does not sell. I have a positive feeling that Amazon will catch on in the collectibles area before too long. It has been GREAT in the past - collectibles are what I received most of my over 600 positive comments from. Folks who buy books seldom leave comments.

If you're trying to sell collectibles or anything else and you don't want to pay listing fees, try BargainandHaggle.com. Forget Amazon auctions. It's virtually a dead venue. BargainandHaggle will outsell Amazon auctions hands down! No contest!

Amazon Marketplace is a different story. Now that venue has GREAT sell-through! But that's only for books, VHS/DVDs and I think music CDs. Why Amazon destroyed one venue while promoting another is confusing. And worse, the items offered on Amazon auctions aren't even priced competitively with eBay. Why on earth would you buy or sell on Amazon auctions???

I agree with your comments about Amazon Auctions and have moved almost everything from the auctions.
Amazon's Z-shops are better, and I am moving many items there as I explained above.
I can list 40,000 items for the same $40 a month that I have to pay for Marketplace (books, cds and videos), so basically the collectibles listings are free.
When I sell a collectible on Amazon Z-shop, buyers normally promptly pay with 1-click which means the money is available and moves to my bank daily with my Marketplace transfer. This really cuts down on paperwork.
I tried Haggle, Bidville & several other auctions, and find that YAHOO, Amazon & Ebay perform the best for me with less effort in listing and servicing.

Why on earth would you buy or sell on Amazon auctions???
Because the stuff I list sells -- and for higher prices than I've been able to realize anywhere else. Sure, it takes longer to sell an individual item, but I have the room for some standing inventory -- so I take advantage of Amazon's auction space to make more $.

xifene,
What on earth could you be having success selling on Amazon auctions??? I swear compared to Amazon auctions there's more life in a graveyard!!!

BOOKS! of course~ often books (certain ones) will sell higher on amazon auctions than ebay. and if you have a promerchant account you can list forever.

I sold on Amazon auctions & z-shops for about 2 years!!!
I just recently closed my account there!
Very sad!
I was doing great and then all of a sudden, NOTHING!!!!
I don't know what happened, but I sure know that I wasn't going to give them 40.00 a month again for not enough sales to cover it.
My sales were really bad for 3 months before I decided to leave.

I didn't realize Z-Shops was doing as poorly as Amazon auctions! Appears they've really let things deteriorate except at Amazon Marketplace. What a shame.

The focus on Amazon right now is on Marketplace, not zshops, and not auctions. Marketplace sales have you list your book/cd/video/dvd on the same page that Amazon sells new items. They are supporting, and touting this highly. Pro Merchants can list in BOTH Marketplace and zShop, it will automatically show in your zShop if you list in Marketplace, but not vice versa. You can also list OOP things on Marketplace IF they have a listing for it.
I list almost predominately on Marketplace. Averaging, currently, 100 items sold/shipped per week. $ figure from 3-50+
List Marketplace, if you can, give info in your emails to customers when you ship their item how to find your zShop.

It is just too easy to list on marketplace! Auctions and z shops will continue to die off till a tab is placed on the front page of Amazon .

Hi everyone,
That was the problem with my listings. I sold personalized prints, key chains and ornaments. Before marketplace, I was selling around 30-40 items a month(more at Christmas time).
I don't sell anything that pertains to the marketplace at all.
The day after I closed my merchant account with amazon, they put 20.00 in my amazon payments account. It was a thank-you for going through all the changes with them. I accepted the 20.00, but I still don't list there anymore.
Anyone else get a 20.00 gift from them?

Just about ditto to lastingmemories.
Marketplace is great, easy to list etc. Of course you have to be selling books, cds, videos....
Some of us dont. Lots of us don't. But If I have a book I do go directly to Marketplace.
My auction sales are good. However they will be drying up soon as my best months are feb/march & june/july and august.
I'll need to go back to ebay or elsewhere for the year end auctions. At Amazon I've been building a customer base and frankly it suprises me when I get someone new. Kinda like they crashed my private auction party Welcome in I say. Some stay for the next round, some go. Gotta drive your own traffic.
Z-shops HAHA! dead dead dead

to lastingmemories: sorry to hear about you closing your account~though if I didn't sell books and some videos~I would have closed down long ago. What auctions and z shops need are a TAB!
The 20.00 was given to all persons who had a promerchant account as a kind of apology for all the screw ups that amazon had done for the past year! Not enough I say !!! What I really want is a tab!!!

looking at the dismal results of amzn and yahoo and bidville auctions where auto relisting, free listing,39.99 for 40,000 items in zshop convince ebay more not to let us keep stale inventory on their cybershelf for too long.
turning over your stock every 7 days is what attracts ebay bidders to visit ebay nite after nite after dinner.
you never know what you will find.
it looks like amzn need some housecleaning.
also wonder how often when someone placed a buy order on zshop and the shopkeeper has already sold the item somwhere else or just trashed it because he does not remember it was listed on amzn.

Amazon needs to promote the zshops and auctions like they use to do. A year ago I was easily selling $2,000+ a month on zshops, this month $350. All they need to do is put the tab back on the page! Why do they even keep zshops and auctions if they don't want to make the money from them?
