Sorry, if this was discussed before, but I was looking at some auctions last night and was confused to find one with the starting bid price in Australian dollars.....but the auction originated in the U.S. and the item would be shipped from the U.S.!

In his description he states that Ebay will wave auction fees if the auction's bid pricing is in Australian dollars! And he goes on to figure out, for the potential bidder, what the U.S. dollar rate is equivalent to in Australia.

It was too confusing and irritating, so I didn't bid. Has anyone here heard of this ebay offer? Has anyone-- not living in Australia-- taken advantage of the free listing fees?

I've heard where sellers took advantage of the UK listings when they were free, same for Australia.

The question was posed to an ebay support person and she said it wasn't exactly ethical, but there was nothing ebay could do to stop it.
