Here's a post I saw over in the Town Square forum from a 'Pinkliner', I'm curious how this will be received.
Dear eBay community:
We understand that many of you are requesting member's contact information to effectively communicate with each other to complete transactions. Currently any member can get your contact information via email upon request. The information includes your name, Country, City, State, Primary Phone Number, email address and User ID. To assist you to make the process more seamless, we are evaluating the recommendation of automatically enclosing your contact information in End-Of-Auction notices between sellers and winning bidders.
Could you let us know your thoughts on this proposal? Please rate each of these elements on a scale of 1-5 ( '5' as extremely support; '1' as totally against)
Your Name (1-5)
Country (1-5)
City (1-5)
State (1-5)
Primary Phone Number (1-5)
Email address (1-5)
User ID (1-5)
Since I include all of that information with my EOA I've no problem with it, just curious how others are going to view this thinking.

I don't really see a need for it. And I suspect that it will result in unnecessary phone calls from winning bidders- something I try to avoid. It's not that I'm not friendly; I just find that phone calls invariably take longer than email.

Isn't that so not necessary???? I mean if the seller wants their money isn't it crucial that they send the contact information to the buyer in the EOA notice. I personnally have my computer phone number in the contact info but if that were not so and I got a call from someone in the wee morning hours from some morning person (I am definetly not one) I would be pissed!!!!

They get everything but my phone number now, and that's how I like it.

I pay to have an unlisted phone number for a reason. If that policy is instituted I will change my ebay phone number to something other than my home phone.

I'm with you with regards to the phone # bit...my number,TOO,is unlisted for a reason! however,I will not change it in my contact info, what could I change it to? my butt'd get fired if I changed it to my work #...fortunately,I have Caller I.D. and screen ALL my calls,so I can just ignore more, right? yeah,it'd be a pain but so what?
of course, perhaps if everyone contacted(or at least a majority of)say "no way" and raise heck about it,then there's every chance it'll never happen.
there'll be those who'll disagree with me on this, but if you don't try,it'll be your fault if it happens anyway. :-/

Especially if you call during the midwatch.

Time to sign up with a free voicemail service!! That way you could supply ebay with a valid phone number without intrusion. I have no problem with an individual bidder pulling my contact info to work through a problem, but there is no way I can let my phone number go out with every EOA.

Leave phone number OUT of it. It should be saved for very specific issues...
No prob with the rest of it.

Here's some comparisons:
http://www.dailyedeals.com/connect/voicemail.htm
Some use your personal phone number & some give you a new number just for voicemail.
The link on the comparison page to onebox was not working for me...

I really only have a problem with the phone number part, otherwise let them send the info, then again, it's kind of a mute point, when I am still waiting for EOA's that I have received payment for and the buyer has the item already.
If they can't get them out timely I see no point in providing that information.

I too only care about the phone number part. I also have mine unlisted and it is for a very good reason!

Someone on TownSquare had a good point. Couldn't people use the info with phone number to add to telemarketing/spamming lists?
I think this will just lead to a lot of people getting "anonymous" addresses like P.O. boxes or MBE boxes and voicemail boxes that would be useless in trying to make contact in the event of a real problem. JMHO

Well it's kind of pointless for ebay to do this if they aren't going to include a person's full mailing address. What good is the name, city and state?

What a STUPID STUPID STUPID idea.
One reason I like selling from home is that I don't have to deal with the public. I don't even want to talk to them on the phone. I don't know about you, but I don't want eBay to make it more convenient for everybody with a question -- that could very well be asked and answered in e-mail -- to be phoning me at all hours of the day and night. These people are too lazy to include their name, address and item number with their payments, yet eBay is going to give them my phone number so that they no longer have to bother with e-mail, they can go straight to the phone and ask me stupid questions any time of the day?
What dickhead came up with this idea?

I have to say I absolutely agree with Jake. Just city and state is like a compromise, watered down version of the whole address and as a result is absolutely useless.

dejavu, using my cell phone isn't a great idea either. It costs me 15 cents each time someone leaves a voice mail message. Geezzzoooww, no way eBay. I said it on the other thread, the day eBay starts putting my home phone number in EOA emails is the day I pull my registration.
This might not bother someone who has a "business", but eBay is still made up of many small sellers who operate out of their private homes. My phone number is not part of the equation.

If eBay doensnt want us small sellers, then why not just say so? It seems to me they are trying to eliminate us by dishing out the stupidest features. I read where Yahoo is requiring all bidders to have a valid credit card on file which will protect sellers from kids, and all other deadbeats. Seems like Yahoo is trying to help sellers, while eBay want rid of theirs.
