There you are, in a boring meeting, so you decide to check out eBay, and the collectible category you buy from. Bing, bing, bing...and then
sound
The entire table looks over to see what it is you're up to. The people on either side check out your screen.
Busted.

What the hell are you even talking about? You must be refering to some other post. If so, why not reference it?

It should be obvious what he is talking about, busted at work while on ebay, how hard is that to understand? Heather

Heather:
Since you saw fit to criticize me for a valid question, would you mind explaining then the relevance of the heading "It's even worse than that"? It is, using your word, obvious that this is in reference to another statement. If not, then it makes NO sense. It's even worse than what? Care to explain, Heather?

Insults aside, might I respectfully butt in here and say that it wasn't obvious to ME what sg52 is talking about either?
If you are like me and you don't read the boards every day, and don't have time to read EVERY thread going on, you wouldn't have a clue what he's referring too.
Just MO.

So, how about posting "Huh? Too oblique for me. Clue me in, sg52".
"What the hell are you talking about?" as a first post? I'm pretty short on charm myself (as I am regularly reminded), but even ol' Rhino Hide here finds this a tad on the abrupt side.

Does it really matter what other thread topic this one may refer to? The beginning post of this can stand on its own as an illustration of the embarrassment of being caught eBaying at work. Why make a big deal about a thread's *title* for Pete's sake?

BlackCoffeeBlues I don't imagine that I do read the boards everyday either nor do I read every thread, but if the body of the message does not speak for itself, well then.....Heather

Wow. Don't check AW for a while, get back, and find that I'm competing with jerry12 for stirring up trouble.
Sorry.
This posting had to do with sound.
Sound in auctions.
Scanning auctions while at work.
What happens when one is scanning auctions while at work and encountering an auction with sound.
It was a "me too" saying "don't put sound in an auction, any auction".

Edited to say that if one has to explain everything all the time, something valuable is lost. Anytime anyone finds my posting confusing, feel free to ask, and I'll explain in great detail, I derive no pleasure from making newbies look (or feel) ignorant.

I didn't read the thread this pertains to, but I got the gist of what you were trying to say.
One site I visit has a cow/bull bellowing. If I don't remember to turn off the sound, it gets all the dogs in a tizzy.
If anyone wants to really liven up their meetings, let me know and I will forward the URL!

sg52- now sit down (OH you are, I'm sure, you are at the computer!) but I'm going to defend you in this one too. I knew what you were talking about right away and I hadn't even read the sound post. In case some of you might wonder WHY it's unusual for me to defend sg52, it's because we had a minor misunderstanding months ago (troll question) but all is forgiven. You seem like a great person who really does add alot to this message board.

..no one's going to make the case that eBaying at work should be punished?

sg52- I'll take it on.... I don't think one should "eBay" at work... that is to say one shouldn't surf around looking for items to bid on... but I see nothing wrong with checking the progress of auctions as long as it only takes a couple of minutes. (I'm lucky enough to have a job where this is possible). I guess it also depends on WHAT your job is. Perhaps an air traffic controller or 911 operator shouldn't be messing around with the computer (eBay or anything else) while on the job. But this is all JMHO!
