I've been offered a 'competitive upgrade' to a program named A.I.D. (Auction Information Database), and am looking for any opinions from people who already use it.

I use it and I really, really like it.
The user interface is very clean and well designed, it's very easy to use. The downside is that it does not yet have a feature to let you combine multiple wins into one email, and it does not support the printing of mailing labels.
Jamie (the creator) said that mailing label support will be included in version 4.0.
Auctions are shown in a checklist-style format, so at a glance, you can tell who you have not heard from, who has not paid, who you need to leave feedback for, etc.
Jamie is very good with customer service and there have been times when I have sent an email late at night and received a reply within 20 minutes!
It is very, very easy to use, I have only had problems once when my computer crashed and I had to go through a few steps to recover my lost data.
And Jamie is very receptive to feedback about new features, etc.
You can download a trial version that will hold up to 25 auctions, to see how you like it.

thanks! -- what sort of email interface does it use? I like the MAPI support that re-sale has. All my emails exist in MS Exchange.
You can set it up to either cut and paste into your current email program, and then send them yourself, or the software has the ability to send the email on it's own, without the need of an email application.
I don't know what MAPI means, so I can't be more specific.
