Hi,
Just a question for the Ebay sellers. Do most of your buyers pay using PayPal when you offer that as an option? What percentage have you found use PayPal to pay for your items? Thanks.

Lately, between 70% and 80% have paid with PayPal.
I'd love for it to be 100% -- I received one check today after waiting over a week and I'm waiting for two more. This stuff could have been packed up and to its destination already.

I'd say 80% use paypal. But now that I am pushing Exchangepath because it gives buyers $10 for signing up, me $5 for the first 20 and costs me nothing, the tide is turning. When I reach my $100 maximum with exchangepath, I'll start pushing payplace, which gives me $5 for each referral and again costs me nothing. Then there's Paydirect and achex. Even though I upgraded my Paypal account, I havent had to pay anything yet.

It's been running about 50 - 60%
That will go down. A lot of my items are small ticket and I probably won't advertise my accepting PP in those auctions.

Even though I am not happy with Paypal and took their logo off my auctions, 8 out 10 people paid through paypal anyway. (most recent auctions closed) So, should I bite my nose off to spite my face or suck this up as an expense to take off my income tax? I have chosen the later for the time being. I am looking for another alternative, but paypal is the option 70% or more of my customers are using. Should I be happy with 50% of something or 100% of nothing. I am dumb at times, but not completely stupid. I think this is called life.

Like it or not, PP is still #1 for the time being. I'm sure eventually some other service will rise in popularity and give PP a run for the money (in this case literally) but until then give the customer what they know and want.
BTW, as to payment we'd say it's been 50/50.

I tried to sign up for PayPlace last night and it said my credit card couldn't be verified. Oh well, so much for that idea.

Only about 50% of my buyers have paid with paypal, I wish it were higher. Four paid with paypal Friday, shipped saturday, received items and left feedback today. Great transactions for all 5 of us.

About 2/3 are PayPal and I don't push it or try to get the bounty. In fact if a new person signs I give them the bonus as a credit. If you can't afford 25¢ amd 2% I wonder what you are selling and if you should be raising your opening bid? I have never sold anything I could not make 15% on minimum.

Very few pay with it. I don't know why they don't use. They just don't. Until now I wished they would, now I am not sure.
Most send me money orders.

Surprisingly only about 50%. Can't understand why I get all these money orders... PayPal is just so convenient, but I think there's a lot of nervous people out there...

I have been recommending paydirect for the last month, and it's working out VERY well. My buyers seem to be very open to it, as most everyone is familiar with Yahoo. I would guestimate that around 70-80% of the customers that I've recommended it to signed up.
I just don't push PayPal anymore, but until my current auctions close I'll accept it if the buyer insists.

Yeah, it's just really freakin' annoying when people want to send a check these days.
Kind of like sending a letter when you could send email. Can you imagine if we had to send our EOA's by mail?

I would say at least 80% of my customers pay with Paypal. With Paypal's latest scheme I'm still debating on what to do regarding Paypal. My customers love it and I've had several tell me if I didn't accept Paypal they wouldn't have bid....

0% of my customers pay with PAyPal- I don't accept it & never have. And doubt I ever will at this point.
I now accept PayDirect for both my Yahoo & Ebay auctions and I LOVE it!!!!

30% of my sales were paypal before I gave them the old heave ho! Just wondering why you are wondering these statistics? Never to deny that paypal and credit card options offered the fastest easiest way to complete a transaction. But like I said---just wondering why you have these questions? Care to extrapolate---John10101 ?

and 7 of 10 on yahoo pay with check or money orders.
I Also offer payplace none have used yahoo direct no one uses ebay card service no one used yet.
only one person in over 275 auctions paid with xcom.
I have tried to sign up with exchangepath with no luck at all I never got the email to activate the account.

40-50% have been PayPal, with the Internationals coming in ProPay.
One thought here is that today I added up my referral bonuses - $ 215.00 since February. I don't push it, merely offer it. It'll be a cold day, before the .47 cent charges from PayPal out run that. I'm happy and sticking with them, but wish to hell they'd hire a real PR person!

50 - 60% pay me via Paypal. The rest are mostly money orders with some checks. I don't push it - merely mention it in my terms (along with cash, checks, money orders and BidPay).

About 10%--when I was still using them. If they can keep their noses clean for 3-6 months, I *might* consider using them again. I'm not holding my breath, though.

For fun, yesterday I added up my referral bonus: over 2500.00 I've attained to date.
cool!
maybe I can afford to take the hit of the newly assessed fees

At least 75% use PayPal in my auctions. I had around 4 auctions close on Saturday- they all paid with PayPal. I withdrew a portion of it with a check and paid for 2 auctions with what was left. It's just so much easier than checks or money orders- on both sides of the fence- as a buyer and seller. IMHO- I think the vast differences in percentages of PayPal users for different sellers has to be due to the types of items being sold.
