I'm looking for some help on identifying a mark on the back of a lovely piece of china made in Japan. It has the letters MM next to each other with the outside of the m's curved and the two insides straight next to each other. Is there anyone out there who is familiar with that stamp? If not, could someone send me in the right direction to identify it by maybe a book or a website that I could search through? Thanks for any help you can give me.

I looked through my little book of marks and didn't find anything resembling what I think you are posting about. Any chance you could post a picture?

Well I just purchased it at an auction yesterday and will have to photograph it today. As soon as I have it I'll get it up. Thanks for looking

Could the "MM" be one of Matsumura Bros. marks? An ebay search produced nothing for Matsumura, so I'm probably spelling it wrong.
One of the books on Japan collectibles would tell you for sure.

Nice timing on this thread... I bought a Phoenix Flying Turkey sugar bowl yesterday that had what I thought was the Noritake mark, but the wreath is upside down (opening at the bottom instead of the top). Is this some kind of repro, or is it the mark for another company?
