I've never had the knack for Roman Numerals, & always had to consult my RNCoverter (read: husband)...Since he wasn't always available when I needed assistance, I found this easy chart to be a great substitute...I got it here on AW, so I pass it back to those here now....Enjoy!

I'm pretty good with Roman Numerals, but when I saw your "converter" post I decided to do a quick search for something on the web. Found a really nifty, easy, and quick utility at this site:

Add it to your bookmarks!

That's like having to look up 2+4=? in a table. It's better if you know how to do it.

I = 1
V = 5
X = 10
L = 50
C = 100
D = 500
M = 1000

When a roman numeral precedes a larger one, treat them together and deduct the smaller from the larger. Otherwise add them.

MCMLXIV :
M = 1000
CM = 900
LX = 60
IV = 4
= 1964
