I have an ad running on Ebay right now. It is for a car in-dash CD Stereo that belongs to my son. We don't have the original paperwork so I looked up the Pioneer Electronics website and found the Stereo.

http://164.109.152.35/car/deh%2Dp645.htm

Please look at that site and then look at my ad and see if my ad is misleading or wrong...

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=456987441

Someone, not a bidder, wrote to me and said that I should pull the ad because it is misleading and I am intentionally trying to bilk people. Is this true? HELP!!!

Thanks everyone...I really need your opinions on this one.

I see no problem whatsoever even with a super critical eye. I think you're clear.

Nope. It reads similar to the completed auctions.

I just looked at your ad...and what the he** they would find to be misleading is beyond me! I am a total anal retentive person and looked over your ad carefully. I honestly do not see any way you are trying to bilk people. Obviously the person that sent you that email was "out on a weekend pass...to the library...and without the proper dosage of meds". Chin up...your ad is great!

labbie1, I seen nothing misleading about your ad. It seems very typical for an item that is still manufactured but has been used.

Thank you. The guy seemed to have a problem with my calling it a DEH-P6000 P645 model, but that is what the Pioneer Electronics Site called it, so that is what I called it. Evidently Pioneer has a P6000 family with different models--some of which are more expensive and some that are less expensive.

I just wanted some other opinions because this guy was rather abusive and I truly don't want to mislead people. I like happy customers! Thanks!

Maybe the guy is a competitor?

Oh good idea! You know, I never checked to see what he was buying and selling. Hmmm...Thanks! I am gonna check that!

I don't quite understand this. You have the CD player and it must say somewhere on the unit the model number, correct? If you then advertise that model number for sale, where is the problem?

What specifically did he complain about?

Just for the record, I have gotten e-mails in the past from NON-BIDDERS who question something I've said in my ad. In every case, my information had been verified, was totally accurate, and I completed each sale with absolutely no problems.

There are people out there with nothing better to do than to let others know how smart they think they are by sending anonymous, rude e-mails.

IGNORE THEM

budybiddy Yes. The CD Player says it is a DEH-P645. Lacking the original book, I went to the Pioneer Electronics Site and typed in DEH-P645. When it came up I got the information in the URL above. It said it was a DEH-P6000. This is definitely the picture of my son's CD Stereo Player. So, I listed it as a DEH-P6000 and said that it is the P645.

It appears that within the DEH-P6000 family, there are different models and the P645 is one of them which was replaced by the P4000 according to the web site.

I tried to list it as it was listed on the Pioneer Web Site so as not to mislead anyone and to let them know what it's features are.

Apparently according to the person who wrote to me, there is a DEH-P6000 model that is a 45 watts X4 and ours is the model that is 40 watts x4.

I just looked the person up and they are bidding on 9 Pioneer car stereos and they are the high bidder on 5 of them.

Thanks mzalez for the idea to look them up! I don't feel so bad about his letters now!

Just to make sure you might contact Pioneer Electronics by email and check on the model number. Just a thought.

mzalez I am beginning to think that you are SO CORRECT! Though, I don't consider myself "competition" to people who are selling a lot of stereo equipment, since I just have one used stereo to sell. The person who wrote to me has a ZERO feedback and yet has turned me in for keyword spamming! He has been bidding heavily on Pioneer Stereos since Sept. (and possibly before since he has been a member since January, but I can't go back further than that in the Ebay system)--particularly from 2 people--but he never seems to win. And he is bidding on all kinds of different models. In dash, not in dash, CD's, not CD's from that one person.

I just received this letter from Ebay:

"eBay appreciates the fact that you chose to list your auction:

456987441

with us. However, your auction was violating one of eBay's listing policies, and we would like to take this opportunity to explain what parts of your auction are not allowed.

Your listing contains "Keyword Spamming" which is prohibited on eBay.

Methods of Key Word Spamming include, but are not limited to:

1. Extra Brand Names in Title or Item Description
2. Not Brand X, Not Brand Y
3. Improper Trademark Usage
4. Lists of "Key" Words
5. Hidden Text (White on white text, or hidden text in HTML Code)
6. Drop Down Boxes

The following appears to be inconsistent with our listing guidelines:

Your title states: Pioneer Car Stereo CD Player DEH-P6000 40Wx4,
but the item for auction is:
Pioneer DEH-P645 40Wx4

Keyword spamming is the practice of adding words, including brand names, which are included for the primary purpose of attracting or diverting
bidders to a listing which is not permitted.

Keyword spamming is not only a manipulation of our search engines, but is also unfair to members who may be searching for a specific item and receive search engine results of listings which are not selling
the item. Users often are confused and frustrated by such tactics.

Certain uses of brand names may also constitute trademark infringement and could expose sellers to legal liability.

We realize that you may not have been aware there was a rule against this activity. Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to review our site policies, which can be found at:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/png-list.html

Please understand our goal is to help you understand our policies to ensure successful experiences at eBay. Therefore, we respectfully request that you refrain from this activity in the future to avoid the possibility of a suspension of your eBay registration.

Thank you for your cooperation in this important matter.

Kind Regards,

I wrote back and directed them to the Pioneer Electronics URL that I listed here. As of this time, the ad has not been pulled, but who knows with Ebay?

Unbelieveable!!!!! I never realized that the electronics sellers and (apparent) newbies were such a cut throat lot!

outoftheblue I think you had a good idea. The auction ends tonight and since I have bids, I don't think I can change the title at this time.

However, it appears it isn't going to meet reserve anyway, so when I relist, I guess that I will relist as a DEH-P6000/P645 model 40x4 so that it is more clear. I wish Ebay had longer titles! <sigh> Some People! This is nuts!

Well from seeing what the bid is up to and what you said it is, I hope your reserve isn't much more than that. Because there is a big difference between 40 watts and 45 watts.
And yes electronics buyers are very particular in what they purchase. I have friend that is into home stero equipment, and he knows his stuff. Other than that, your ad looks nice and gives lots of info.

If you made any mistakes, it was (1) the conflict between your title model and your description model. The lack of consistency would raise questions. and
(2) saying what it was as if you knew rather than saying "the pioneer site calls this a xxxx model".
If it was mine I'd just say "the tag on the unit says model xxx".

You got good advice. Make the model number clear and I would not link to the manufacturers site if they do not have an exact match for yours. It is too complicated to say almost like xxxx.

Thank you capotasto and macandjan. If I have to relist, I will endeavor to make it more clear.

The URL that I provided here (but I don't have the URL in my ad) is the exact model that my son has. You can see by the picture at the web site and the picture of the actual unit that I have.

Perhaps I should include the URL to Pioneer in my ad...

Thanks for the feedback!
