Hi booksellers -
Did you see the notice about new categories for books on eBay today? It says there will be a section for ARCs. I had been under the impression that eBay was sort of "against" selling ARCs. Do you know anything about that? It hasn't stopped me when I had them, but I did feel sort of like I was skating on the thin edge or something.

I'm not sure why eBay would be anti-advance reading copies...my library carries them! In fact, lots of people who follow particular authors love to read these instead of the "official" version so they can see what gets left out of the final book. Or laugh at typos, or whatever. They all seem to have a disclaimer regarding the fact that they are not "finished products," and so on.
Anyway, I'd like to know more about eBay's reasoning on this.

I think that's great! I've sold a number of Advance Reader Copies, and many collectors love them, especially if they are in mint condition.
I've sold them to dealers who were very concerned that I pack them with special care, so they'd stay perfect. There is definitely a market for them.

I have a lot of ARC's and most state that they are not for sale. I have wondered why eBay hasn't pulled ARC auctions.

Aren't they similar to the videos that are pre-award screeners? Those videos aren't supposed to be sold on eBay.

I have a few "for promotional use only" videos. Do you suppose ebay will be logical and consistent and allow these like they allow ARCs?
