I shipped a box to Australia on August 18th. Airmail, no insurance, because it was a small packet, not registered either. The package hasn't arrived. I filled out a missing package form at the PO (a lot of good that will do). At first, the word was, probably because of the Olympics, it may be held up at customs. Now what is the reason? Has anyone else had a long delay, such as this, shipping to Australia? I've had my bidder in Australia check with her customs department and they tell her it's not there. I've shipped hundreds of packages and this is the first one missing.

My sister & brother-in-law live in Sydney, and I have heard from them that a lot of pilfering is known to go on at the airport regarding international incoming packages, so perhaps it has been "disappeared" by someone.

My only loss was to Great Britain. It showed up 4 months later at my doorstep returned to sender. They beat the label off of it. It was insured but the package came back before the insurance claim went through. BTW international insurance is a joke, it was going to require forms filled out on both ends, after a waiting period, if I recall correctly the guy in GB was going to have to have something signed by his postmaster, basically that money was not coming back.

I ship to Australia quite frequently. Air/small packet normally takes 9-12 days, and surface (sea) 9-10 weeks. If your air shipment went by sea (in error) it should be arriving shortly.
I've never lost a package going there, yet however.
Registered air is a joke though, as even though you 'insure' for $ 120.00 you get back only $ 40.00 if going to Australia.

I have shipped about 4 times to Australia over the past 6 months. I use small air package/registered and delivery time averaged 5 days! Then about 2 weeks ago, I sent a package same way and it has not been received yet. The buyer is getting antsy because their experience has been the same as mine. They get their packages within a week!
