I have recently paid for two auctions with Billpoint immediately after the auctions ended. I have yet to hear a word from the first seller--and that auction ended Oct. 15th.--no EOA--no nuthin'. I've emailed him/her but no reply.

The second auction ended yesterday and I paid immediately with Billpoint. Later that day I got an EOA from the seller with instructions on how to pay. I emailed her back and told her I had paid via Billpoint--she emailed back and said she had not received any notice from Billpoint--but had checked her account and my payment was in there.

On both occasions I got an email from Billpoint confirming my payment and saying they had contacted the seller.

Are any of the sellers here having trouble being contacted that payment has been made via Billpoint?

I received 5 emails tonight that should have arrived last Thursday. I'm still waiting.

In the 3 Billpoint payment I've received since Thursday, I was notified of the payment on only one. One of the ones I never received notification on is even already in my bank account. This is the first time I've seen this happen. I make it a part of my daily routine to check my Billpoint and Paypal accounts twice daily, just to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Remember folks, computers, including emails don't always work correctly!

This was earlier this week. I think they have fixed the problem, as I am receiving all notifications now, but I recommend double-checking to be sure...

Dear Billpoint Customer:

We're writing to alert you of a Billpoint email problem that delayed some of the system-generated emails associated with your Billpoint transaction activity. Specifically, this delay affected emails generated between the hours of 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time on 10/16/2000 through 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time on 10/17/2000. Billpoint is in the process of re-sending these emails and expects to complete the task by 9:00 p.m. Pacific Time tonight. We apologize for this delay and regret any transmission of duplicate messages. We wanted to err on the side of ensuring that all customers received all mail.

We'd also like to remind you that payment order details are available from the eBay Item Listing page. Billpoint sellers and registered buyers also have access to their Billpoint account activity, accessed from the Billpoint home page at www.billpoint.com.

Please accept our sincere apologies and thanks for your patience. Please send any inquiries on this subject to [email protected].

Sincerely,

The eBay Billpoint Team

Why would a bidder pay before getting an EOA from the seller? Wouldn't be better to hear from the seller to know that they are clear you won?
I mean send an email first but I wouldn't pay first.

twelvepole,

The auctions I paid with Billpoint had the "instant purchase available" deal on them inviting the high bidder to "pay now."

I assumed the sellers had to be the ones who set the auctions up that way and would be watching for an instant payment should it come in.

There couldn't be any doubt that I was the winner--and no one but the high bidder can use the instant purchase option.
