FYI, interesting article on Excite re: PayPal as the leader in the "Digital Cash Movement." 4 million users, 140,000 new each week (bad news for those who want to revolt -- it will be hard to make a dent!)

The three alternative e-cash companies they cite in the article aren't ones I've seen anything about here at eBay Outlook -- BillPoint not mentioned, nor is ExchangePath.

Oh goodness, don't believe everything you read. Hardly an unbiased article. I am getting paid via paydirect 25 times a week.

Sounds like Paypal and Excite have themselves a deal. To leave out Billpoint with EBAY behind it and Paydirect with YAHOO backing is beyond accidental - the article is a joke.

While the article might be biased toward PayPal it has nothing to do with Excite. It is an Associated Press article. You can see the same thing on Yahoo if you prefer.

Where are these numbers coming from about 4 million users and 140,000 new users signing up weekly? From the same people who also stated "always free" and "no charge backs" and "you wont be forced to upgrade" and "buyer/seller protection"? Do they mention how many of the 4 million no longer use Paypal? How many of these accounts were created with stolen credit cards? How many have been closed or frozen? It took PP months to get to 4 million users. It will probably take a few months for many of those users to discover Exchangepath and Payplace. And maybe a new CEO will step in who will work to undo the damage that has been done. PP still has a chance with the right leadership to recover. But not with their current procedures.

Seriously though...
The article reads like something a broker would show a person they were trying to get to invest in the IPO. Deep pockets buying just the right spin for a purpose that is not necessarily apparent.
Manipulation.
"Paypal is great - see all your neighbors think so - in fact they can't think of anything else - so buy now and buy big, don't be left out - you are getting in on the ground floor and there is no downside - this exciting shiny red sports car.." No one could even consider driving anything else - get yours now!"

Thing is the paint on that car is not even 1 inch thick. Car has been in a major accident(s) and the engine is rotted out... Veneer, veneer, veneer and even it is not of quality. Sorry. Given a choice, I don't do money with the cheesy.

PayPal sucks, that is the problem they are getting tooooo big, they don't monitor the credit cards they just watch emails too many from same person looks suspicious to them restrict your account, I will not use them, and have talked with a couple others and they have had problems also. Tradesafe.com is the happening it will come up with PayPal but at least you have a phone number to call, when you need someone. PayPal is watching emails as the amount of money they say is from bad credit cards does not add up to the amount I received. Use Tradesafe.com much better.
