Has anyone else used VA Court Services to try to collect on bad checks? It was reccommended to me here on AW. I promptly emailed and received an equally prompt reply that they could indeed help me collect. Within a week I was told the matter was going be handled quickly, just send the bad check to them and I would could expect my reimbursement shortly. Nothing arrived. TWO months later, I have still received NOTHING. I have emailed numerous times and have been told, it was "schueduled for release" several times. Now they don't even answer the emails. This is disgraceful, they are worse than dealing with the deadbeat check writer and now I don't even have the bad check to try and pursue it any farther. I DO NOT RECOMMEND VIRGINIA COURT SERVICES TO ANYONE!! They made a bad situation EVEN WORSE!

I too am unhappy with their customer service.

It took a lot of trouble and screaming just to get an $11 check sent to me -- and they were supposed to make my life easier!

They have also been "working on" a much larger debt for months with nary a word to me about how it's going. I am afraid that they may recover their treble damages from the buyer and I'll never see one red cent.

Disgraceful is right! Perhaps a complaint to the Virginia Bar Association would help?

Well, there's one less bookmark in that folder now.
Sorry to hear it didn't work out!

I wish I had never seen the recommendation here. At least I may be able to warn others about their BAD service and encourage others who have experienced it as well. I wish someone had warned me of their AWFUL service practice. "Jeff" has informed me several times (after I asked what was happening) that reimbursement was already made but he was just waiting for "clearance". Understandable but it hasn't taken this long and now they don't even answer emails. In one email he informed me I was "unrealistic" after I questioned what had happened to the check. That was one week after he told me it was schueduled for "release on Monday". And that was well over a month ago. IS VIRGINIA COURT SERVICE SOME KIND OF SCAM?

You might have better success with a collection agency. I was told a lot of good things about MAD.

http://www.madagency.com/

I am going to try them this month on a deadbeat account.

Please forgive, I have never heard of Va Court Services and I live here. I do know that there are some elected officials to contact because we have done it before for other reasons. And hopefully, he will be re-elected next Tuesday. If you are interested, post to this thread and I'll send along the name and address. We've even emailed and received replies.

Good luck.

Yes please do post here. I intend to report them but am not sure who to contact. I think they should be investigated.
