I have a pair of ladies ski boots that I want to sell and I cannot figure out how these dumb things are sized.
They are Salomon SX60 boots. On the back there is a circle with the number 315 in it. I believe this is supposed to be the size. Anyone know how this number is translated into regular american shoe sizes?

Higher priced/quality ski boots are foam-filled to fit one's individual foot. I 'spose there are some lesser cost ones that might have a size that would relate to a shoe store, however.
Are you sure the circle with a number in it isn't the ski shop's rental inventory number? Which might indicate that the ski shop sold off old inventory, or ... they weren't returned after rental by a previous user, thus the ownership might be in question?

Actually these boots belonged to my sister who is living in Germany so I can't ask about the size, but I was with her when she bought them and it was from a retail ski shop, so I know they aren't past rentals. I did an ebay search and these numbers do seem to correlate with sizes. I just couldn't find any with the same size.
I should know this, I live in Utah and I used to ski. 35 is too young to be forgetting so much!!

I hope this helps:
"ALPINE BOOT SIZING
Ski boot sizing can be real confusing since there’s so danged many standards...US, European, mondopoint, Salomon, etc. Mondopoint’s the international metric sizing system used by most boot manufacturers. But, despite even this standardization, finding the right fit is still a bit of a crap shoot. This is affected by different ‘interpretations’ of the same size by different manufacturers, or even the density of the foam in boot liners. So use these figures as just a starting point to begin your hunt for the right boot, and go from there. Remember, it’s best to work with a good boot fitter to find boots that fit snugly without causing pain, regardless of the size marked on the boot shell."
US MONDO SAL EURO
3-4 21.2 34 2/3
4-5 22.0 290 36
5-6 22.8 290 37 1/3
6-7 23.6 300 38 2/3
7-8 24.5 310 40
8-9 25.3 320 41 1/3
9-10 26.0 330 42 2/3
10 27.1 340 44
11 27.9 350 45 1/3

HARDOUTFIT: Holy mother!! I didn't realize there would be so much to this ski boot sizing thing! I guess 315 would be size 8 1/2, right?
I appreciate your taking the time to look all this stuff up for me. Way awesome of you!!
