This week I noticed that when I click on any of my live auction pages via the "My Bay" page, I first have to suffer through a redirect page titled "View Item Redirect." Once this page is up for awhile, then the actual auction page finally appears on the screen. Even though the time is only extra seconds, we all know that these seconds add up on the Internet while we are helplessly staring at our computer screen!!! Anyone else encountering this? I have e-mailed eBay directly, because the only references that I could find on eBay's help boards or pages about "View Item Redirect" were from other complaining eBayers. And, the moderators lurking on these eBay discussion boards had no concrete answers at all. They simply responded with comments like e.g., "maybe it's for increased security, etc." They never even said they would try to get a concrete answer!

Me too. I get those screens. I didn't want to complain because they are only a few seconds but they are a pain. The system is slow to do anything on Ebay anyway this screen is one of those things that just silently "bugs" you. lol

This will go away as new auctions are placed on the correct servers from the start.
It's a PITA any time a web-based site does changes like that, and I wish they had made it invisible to the user by doing it at the routers ... but considering their track record with technological fixes, the redirect is better.

My presumption was that the redirects were caused by them moving things around on the servers. I decided I'd better ask, though, and this is the answer I got:
"Thank you for your inquiry about encountering redirected pages on our site. Please note that the pages are only redirected when accessing items from My eBay. This was necessary in order to help ensure the integrity and security of your personal information contained in these password-protected pages.
While the redirected pages should normally load very quickly for you, it is possible that the redirection will be more noticeable during heavy traffic times on the site. Please be assured that we will work very hard to keep this redirection as transparent as possible. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may cause you, but trust you will understand the necessity for it."
This will be a permanent change.
If you experience any real problems with it - like if the redirect never works - email support with as much information about your browser, what time it was, etc., so they can troubleshoot it.
