I had a deadbeat customer. After 20+ days with no response to emails or payment, I filed for my NPB & FVF fees and negged her. She had rec'd 4 NEGS for non-payment and was NARU'D shortly after I filed for my credit. Never heard a word and that was a couple weeks ago.

Now I'm laughing at this email I just received regarding this deadbeat:

Hi, I saw that you had a problem with “xxxxxxxxxxxxx” I’m also having a problem. I live in Maine, perhaps a surprise to xxxxxxxxxxxxxx. I plan to drive to her home to deliver my item and receive payment. If there is anything I can do for you, please ask.

Boy, would I *LOVE* to see her face when he asks for this NARU'd deadbeat bidder's payment.

I told him there was nothing he could do for me - but to PLEASE let me know her reaction and if he actually gets payment from her. This should be interesting!!

I wonder if he'll take Louie and Vito along for "enforcement"?

Wow that's about the most ignorant thing I have heard of in awhile. Seller better be prepared for the something other than expected if they were to show up at my door.
Hell collection agencies won't even come a knocking.

More like an A.P.C. and a whole SWAT Team.

I have a feeling that 30% of Buyers wouldn't take the piece if they actually saw it in person. I think that going to go "collect" on a non-existant debt is pure nonsense.

Yeah if it is not a troll we could read about this one in the paper. They are always looking for another horror story to keep people off the auction.

Macandjan:

I assure you I am no troll! This is an email I received from someone else yesterday - who I have never done business with, but we have a "deadbeat" in common.

It appears that the mob is now doing business on eBay.

Sorry - No intention of offending. Crystalline_Sliver is right. I sure would never try it and I have all kinds of "nerve".

As long as the seller in Maine considers this a "personal satisfaction" use of their time rather than a logical business decision, I guess whatever floats their boat is fine with me.

Spending time driving to this person's house, who clearly isn't going to pay (4 non-pays and counting...), as compared to simply relisting the item, is about as silly a way to spend time during the holidays as I can imagine. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

Perhaps if they go tomorrow, they can share some turkey.

Any idea how much the job is paying?

Hmmm, maybe it's not as crazy as it sounds. If I had a deadbeat bidder in a warm climate right now, it might be tempting to go pay a visit and deduct the cost of the trip as a business expense.

So, you have $1,000 to blow if the deadbeat bidder lives in Hawaii?

This really sounds like something only jerry12 could get away with and still be alive to come on AW to tell us all about it.

I had one person write me a bad check. I had already sent out the goods (I know, shame on me)I called them on the phone and requested that they make good. They assured me they would right away. After about a week I went to the local branch of their bank and asked them what I could do. They gave me an 800 merchant number to call. They said to find out when she had funds in the account and rush to the bank and cash the check! So, I did and got the payment. Greta lesson to be learned on many levels for me.
