Contemporary? Is it single song sheets or books/anthologies?
I've seen the books/anthologies do quite well on ebay, depending on the group or artist of course. Some vintage and antique sheet music does OK too, but I don't know about contemporary--never dealt in it.
I got 13.00 for the 1957 copy of the Everly Brothers--Bye Bye, Love on ebay not too long ago. That's the most I've ever sold a piece of sheet music for. I felt it was worth much more than that though, early Rock 'n Roll you know.

Depending on the TYPE of sheet music you want to sell, will vary widely on WHERE you sell it. Ebay is indeed overloaded with sheet music, but, what exactly do you have? Have you ever tried looking for cello duets? They are almost nonexistent. A Harp concerto? Since there are only 16 ever written, the odds are even less. Bach Cello suites, Fournier edition? Never. Go for the instrumentation, and list it in that category. Violin sheet music, heck, put it in the violin category. My hubby is a professional touring cellist and when looking for new electronic cellos, he inevitably buys about 10 pieces to add to his library.
