Help please, my mind is slipping away. When you close a book and the pages come together at the top (where people stamp names, or libraries stamp their names), at the sides, at the bottom -- what is that called? It's not the spine. Help please! And thanks in advance.

It's the "page block" or "Text block" when you are talking about the part that is not the spine. The page block has a top, fore edge, and bottom.

Nana'sClutter, some collector's use the terms "tail edge" or "head edge", and fore edge. I prefer the term page block, as in "there is fading of the top of the page block" because I think more people (who are not serious collectors) will understand what I mean.

Hey, that's good to know!

I've always called it the "page edges" for lack of knowing the correct term.

I think the term 'Block' would confuse me more than the word 'Edge'

Zazzie

Just don't try to work the word 'play' into it.
