I think most Ebay sellers see what is going on. Ebay is arrogant and in the end that will be their downfall. Lousy customer support, not listening to their users and then selling out to corporations. They are allowed to do this because of their arrogance. Amazon, yahoo, microsoft did not make a dent because in the end they just copied Ebay. Competition will come from an upstart. But someone who has truly listened to the problems and will continue to. Ebay has forgotten what got them there. They can only get the corporations to pay the big dollars because of all of their users. But if they continue to ignore them, they will leave and so will the corporations. Ebay will never be chipped away at. You have to create a whole new market that is better, more fun and truly user friendly and caring. Ebay's biggest threat is itself by acting the way they do.

blah blah blah
That is how Ebay sees their users complaints. They rely on the (they have no where else to go) theory. Do the bare minimum to get by. Look at Priceline. They relied on airlines and showed them the formula. Then the airlines did it themselves. Bye Bye Priceline. What Ebay is doing is consolidating the marketplace which will make it easier for someone to take it over. Ebay is the only true auctionsite. But it has a user image problem due to their own doing. Very dangerous.
Ebay has hit critical mass which is why they must let big corporations in. They can't have it both ways. Remember, you heard it hear first.

These Message Boards are getting way to negative lately.

Sellers downing on buyers

Buyer’s badmouthing sellers

Down on credit card services postal services and anything else that can be thought up.

No Sales Brick and mortar or Net, no business Real or virtual can be Successful when you Accentuate the negatives.

IBCEO

As the CEO of an upstart Auction site you should be surrounding your self with all Positive people and thoughts even about and of your competition.

How can any company, business or Consumer in this Day in age or in the past be or become successful at anything if all you can hear say or Read is The Negatives.

If anyone really wants to stay pumped up see the negatives and failures and Eliminate them, Leavening your self and the others around you only the positive points about things to see soon everyone will see who offers the Best For what there needs are.

Good Advice For all in Life Everyone Has a bad day, week or month The real Trick is Not letting all Know about it keep all your communication with others on a positive note all this Negative noise is whats killing on line sales not just for the little guy but it starts there and works its way to the big guys as well.

All this free bad publicity and negative talk and downing of others is killing this for ever one 1 bad seller in a million suddenly Media picks up on it and all on line sellers are frauds and we all know this is not true or right.

Accentuate the positive Eliminate the Negative And most anything you set your mind to and Believe in can workout well, Be fair be honest and up front with all but more Importantly with your self and you cant fail.

I agree with you. I do not believe all buyers and sellers are bad. I think that the minority problem buyers and sellers ruin it for everyone else. To that end I have taken steps to thwart that kind of activity on our site. We do not want all of the auction buyers and sellers out there. Just the honest ones. I feel that the negativity that we see in all chatrooms probably comes from the not so honest ones. I personally am glad Ebay is the way it is.It give us a way to take market share. If people were truly happy, they would not complain. To sum it up. Users want the old fun Ebay but that is not possible anymore. They are holding out hope. Alot of people are split about what Microsoft did and how they did it.Well it finally caught up with them. But they are still better off then if they did not do it the way they did. Well Ebay is on it's way. Remember, the less choice and competition, the more the biggest get away with giving less. This story is not over.

And the one sounding alarm bells wouldn't have any agenda of their own, like say, their own e-auction site?

It was ebay users who were the ones sounding the alarm bells for so long and so often. All we did is here them before they did or ever will. They continue to leave the door open.

For once I completely agree with you. People come here to vent and that makes this forum a real downer sometimes. No, the sky isn't falling. Step back and see the big picture..

I won several auctions over the summer and was impressed with the customer service I received.

The last few auctions I have won have been a very big disappointment, everything from shoddy merchanidise to very slow shipping and wrong items sent.

KB Kids got a video game to me in 2 days. Landsend and Hanna Andersson shipped immediately for another 2 day delivery.

I have always tried to ship as soon as I receive payment, but obviously many sellers feel differently.

With many of the traditional brick and mortars on line now, why should you wait for a 7 day auction to close and put up to slow shipping.

The problem is that there is just too much competition. Those who provide excellent customer service will proster no matter what the economy is doing.
