If you have good feedback, it is not that strange. You are allowed to sell your ebay name. However, I would not advise this unless you are ready to retire and you know the person who is buying it. Remember that your buyers know you and your email ID. If this new guy wants to buy your name so he can scam folks, expect lots of angry emails, calls and maybe visits from the police. Though it may not be a scam, an unsolicited offer to buy your name should be treated with suspicion.

If someone really feels they want your Name On ebay bad enough they might offer you that much or more to have it.
What makes a $500.00 offer for your user name look more like a scam then 5 or 6 million for a domain name.

this is from a page on the eBay site... http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/f-userid.html#15
Q.
I've got an idea. I'm going to register additional email addresses to reserve User IDs! I'll even sell them!
A. eBay does not allow this. Please don't register additional email addresses in order to sell them later.

Actually, this was recently covered in the Ebay forums. Ebay responded by saying that you CANNOT sell your ebay ID, and that any such transaction would result in immediate suspension of those involved.
